Dean Ambrose is apparently nearing a return from his triceps injury and will reunite with Seth Rollins when he is finally back on Raw.

Fans waited a long time for a Shield reunion in WWE, three and a half years to be exact. Unfortunately, that eventual reunion continually got derailed to the point that it never really happened at all. Roman Reigns being struck down with an illness meant he was replaced by Kurt Angle for the trio's official re-debut at TLC 2017, and then Dean Ambrose's triceps injury halted the comeback completely.

The Lunatic Fringe tore his triceps in December and we haven't seen him since. While the injury didn't seem too serious at first, upon further examination it soon became clear that Ambrose was going to be gone for a while with rumors that he might be out of action for up to nine months. Seven months later, however, and reports are circulating that the former WWE Champion is nearing a comeback.

Bryan Alvarez discussed Ambrose's injury, as well as Jason Jordan's, during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live and is of the belief that both Superstars could return to action pretty soon. He also revealed what he has been led to believe is the current plan WWE has for the pair of them.

"The last I heard was it was gonna be (Jason) Jordan and (Chad) Gable again—and, (Seth) Rollins and (Dean) Ambrose as the teams—not Rollins and Jason Jordan," Alvarez revealed. If that is the plan for Ambrose it would come as something of a surprise. Since his departure, Rollins has gone from strength to strength as a singles star. Many fans are probably hoping that The Architect gets involved in the Universal Title scene, but if Alvarez is correct then that likely won't be happening quite yet.

One thing is for certain, the tag team division on Raw needs bolstering. Right now, SmackDown Live's equivalent is far superior. The addition of The Shield and American Alpha to the mix would most definitely shake things up a little and vastly improve the current range of tag teams on Monday nights. Whether it's the best place to be for the four men involved is another topic entirely.
