The Wednesday Night War between NXT and AEW Dynamite kind of came to an end with a whimper in 2021 when the former's weekly show moved to Tuesdays. Tonight, that rivalry will be renewed for one night only. Baseball on TBS is forcing AEW to move Dynamite to Tuesday, which means both it and NXT will air at the same time for the first time in 18 months.

WWE Determined To Pick Up A Win

According to Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez (via Inside The Ropes), WWE is determined to defeat AEW in the ratings tonight. Whether someone on the inside has said that to him specifically or if that's an assumption based on what NXT has in store remains unclear. Of the five matches announced, four of them include main roster cameos.

Gallows & Anderson will be teaming with Cameron Grimes, Alba Fyre will be looking for revenge against Sonya Deville, and Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez have Pick Your Poison matches. The former picked Raquel Rodriguez to be the latter's opponent, and Jade appeared on Raw this week to recruit Rhea Ripley for a match against Perez.

Both Shows Are Stacked

Although WWE is the promotion that has been described as “determined” to pick up a win tonight, NXT isn't the only stacked show. Four matches have been announced for Dynamite ahead of time, all of which have a title on the line. The World, Women's, Trios, and ROH Championships will all be up for grabs tonight in AEW as NXT airs live on another channel.

While two shows on one night won't give an accurate picture of which brand is currently the most popular with wrestling fans, it's the first time the two have clashed since Triple H's comments about NXT moving nights. The Game recently shot down the idea that WWE shifted the night of the week on which NXT airs, effectively mocking AEW for managing to beat WWE's developmental brand.
