A Television Championship is something that many wrestling promotions have created over the years, mainly because of the benefits that it brings. WWE has got a range of titles right now, but the company hasn't tapped into creating a Television Championship as of yet, even though some believe that they should.

WWE has never shied away from adding more titles in the past to mix things up, and there are plenty of reasons why adding this could help the company right now. On the flip side, there are also some obvious reasons why WWE might not want to create something else at this moment in time.

10 Should Introduce: Exciting Television Matches

Cody Rhodes in WWE

The obvious reason why any company should create a Television Championship is that it guarantees exciting television matches every week. The whole purpose of this title is for it to be defended each week, and that would give WWE something to focus on and book each time.

This is why adding this title would be a great decision, as fans could expect one big encounter each week that doesn't require tons of storyline focus and instead is all about the competition itself.

9 Shouldn't Introduce: Just Removed A Title

One reason WWE might not want to add another title to the roster right now is the fact that they have just retired one with the 24/7 Championship. While this one had been booked purely for comedic purposes, it was still another title to have on the roster.

The company could have changed this and made it more serious if they wanted to, but the fact it ended up being retired showcases that WWE simply might not want that many titles on the roster right now.

8 Should Introduce: Helps With World Title Absence

Roman Reigns at MSG Cropped

Right now WWE has its two big World Championships on Roman Reigns which is a good thing considering how much star power he has. However, because he works a reduced schedule, the Tribal Chief isn't always on SmackDown, and his appearances on Raw are even fewer.

This means that the two top titles aren't showcased regularly, which shouldn't be the case if WWE wants to make them feel important. Therefore, adding another title to be shown regularly would help with that issue as it would bring another title to the show.

7 Shouldn't Introduce: In-Ring Isn't Always A Focus

A Television Championship only works out well if the in-ring product is the focal point, but that is rarely the case in WWE, which could hurt the title in terms of getting it over. WWE would need to put together lengthy matches regularly to make this a compelling title in the eyes of the fans.

However, if there weren't a lot of opportunities for that then the title would likely struggle. WWE prefers to have promo segments and only brief matches on television, and that is something that would make it hard to get this title over.

6 Should Introduce: Cross-Brand Storylines

Ronda Rousey Raw and SmackDown Womens Champion

While Raw and SmackDown still have their own distinctive rosters, nowadays it isn't uncommon for WWE to blur the lines and have different wrestlers appear on the opposite show. However, a lot of the time that is done without rhyme or reason, which is a missed opportunity.

If WWE had a title that was able to go between each show with a traveling champion there would be a reason for some of the changes to take place. Plus, it could provide fresh matches every week with the champion moving between each show.

5 Shouldn't Introduce: Issues With Media Rights

Raw-Smackdown-USA Network-Fox

The idea of a Television Championship is that it would be focused on Raw and SmackDown, but the issue WWE has is that those two shows are on different stations. While USA Network and FOX might not care too much about specifics, they each want the top stars on their roster.

There is a reason Roman Reigns has to appear on both shows at times, and it's because he carries the top titles, with WWE sharing things out in terms of star power. Therefore the company might not want to risk anything with a TV title just so they don't frustrate one or the other if it appears on one show more frequently.

4 Should Introduce: Allowing Triple H To Make A Mark

Triple H WWE 1

Triple H is doing a good job with the creative department at the moment, and he is certainly out to make his mark. While he has continued with plenty of what was already ongoing, there's no doubt he would like to make his own impact on the business, and a new title could do just that.

The fact that it would be something fresh for WWE that would allow him to work between both shows would open up a lot of creative possibilities, and that on its own might be tempting to him.

3 Shouldn't Introduce: Too Many Titles

Gunther vs Bobby Lashley

There is such a thing as too many titles, and adding one more might just cross that for WWE. This is a big complaint that people have with the AEW product right now, therefore not following suit in that might be a good idea from WWE's perspective to market against the competitor.

When there are too many titles on a show it waters down all of them, and it also means that nearly all of the storylines are related to a title. Sometimes, people want to see grudge feuds that don't involve any gold, therefore not adding another could help on that front.

2 Should Introduce: More Opportunities For Talent

Chad Gable

Right now with the two World Titles on Roman Reigns there are only two other championships for wrestlers to hold, and considering how loaded the WWE roster is at the moment that isn't the easiest situation. There are a lot of people doing great work, but they aren't able to be rewarded for it.

Adding another title would help that situation, as this would let more wrestlers have the chance to be used seriously to showcase their abilities seriously.

1 Shouldn't Introduce: Struggle Booking The Existing Titles

Austin Theory v Seth Rollins v Bobby Lashley Survivor Series 2022 Cropped

While the idea of a new title could be exciting and would create a lot of fresh opportunities, the fact is that WWE doesn't always do a great job of booking all of its existing titles. Sometimes things are thrown together or forgotten about with the existing titles, and while Triple H has done a better job in this regard, it's still not always perfect.

Therefore, the idea of adding another title to the mix would potentially hurt things as it would stretch the creative department even deeper than they clearly already seem to be.
