Surprisingly, Wednesday did not end up with Xavier in her show. Here's why it played out that way and whether the two could become closer in season 2.

Although liking being alone is one of Wednesday’s defining traits in every Addams Family adaptation, Netflix’s Wednesday explores the idea that she can find happiness in friends after all. From Enid to Eugene, Wednesday followed its titular character as she created bonds at Nevermore. She also developed what appeared to be potential romantic relationships with Tyler and Xavier.
The mystery of the monster's identity in Wednesday set the tone for the first season, and it created an atmosphere in which no character could be trusted. That is why potential couples like Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and Tyler (Hunter Doohan) or Wednesday and Xavier (Percy Hynes White) risked ending in tragedy — as it did. With Tyler revealed to be the monster right after kissing Wednesday, it seemed certain that she was going to instead end up with Xavier by the end of Wednesday season 1.
Wednesday Was Never Romantically Interested In Xavier
Wednesday was never focused on any kind of relationship with Xavier in Wednesday season 1. In fact, for most of her encounters with him, Wednesday believed Xavier was the Hyde. Wednesday was never romantically interested in Xavier, and even chances of a friendship between the two characters became remote once she began to suspect he was the monster. Though Xavier obviously cared about Wednesday and tried to remain friends with her following the first accusations, there was no romantic connection between them. That said, Wednesday did toy with the idea of a love triangle between Wednesday, Tyler, and Xavier.
Despite Tyler’s infamous“mixed signals” discourse, he and Wednesday eventually got closer, which also confirms that Wednesday was never romantically involved with Xavier. Unfortunately, Tyler’s interest in Wednesday was revealed to be part of a complex ploy set by Mrs. Thornhill (played by former Wednesday actor Christina Ricci), to manipulate her. The fact that Tyler’s interactions with Wednesday even before he was revealed to be the Hyde led many to dislike the character. It also contributed to the prediction that Wednesday and Xavier would get together at some point in Wednesday season 1, which did not happen despite the events of the show's finale.
Will Wednesday Become Closer With Xavier In Wednesday Season 2?
Wednesday took an arrow to the shoulder for Xavier in the Wednesday finale, but the characters were still not romantically involved by the end of the season. That said, Xavier gave Wednesday a phone, suggesting that he wants to say in touch with her during summer vacation. There is definitely a connection between Wednesday and Xavier, one that could evolve in Wednesday season 2. That is not to say Wednesday and Xavier will get together in Wednesday season 2, only that the characters can become better friends in the future. Wednesday and Xavier becoming a couple in season 2, however, cannot be ruled out.
Although it cannot necessarily be said that Xavier has feelings for Wednesday, he does love to flirt with her. It seemed that it would take a while before Xavier and Wednesday could rebuild their friendship after she got him wrongfully arrested for being the monster, but that was not what happened after all. There isn’t much of a time jump between Wednesday’s ending battle against Joseph Crackstone and the final day in Nevermore’s semester, yet she and Xavier were already ready to become friends again. It remains to be seen if Wednesday and Xavier will become a couple in Wednesday season 2.
