Enzo Amore and Big Cass had all the ingredients to be on the list of all-time great WWE tag teams. They were creative, unique, legitimately funny, and they connected with the crowd. Enzo's selling made Big Cass's hot tag a thing of beauty, and truly showed their chemistry. They were inserted into a feud with the Dudley Boyz in their debut. It's easy to blame WWE's ineptitude at tag team wrestling for their downfall, and that was certainly part of the problem. However, after a year on the main roster, fans were starting to just not care anymore. They were still screaming, "you can't teach that" and spelling out SAWFT with Enzo, but that's about it.
The Hardys' return and The Bar consistently putting on great matches pulled the rug right out from under them. They were never viewed as an opposing force because the only pay-per-view matches they won was a 6-man tag with John Cena at Battleground where Cena was the one who got the pin, and the ten-man Survivor Series elimination match when they were already eliminated. WWE then hit their tag team breakup panic button. Suddenly, Big Cass had the most basic entrance theme of all time, became a big tall man archetype, and suffered a serious knee injury. Enzo got shunted off to the cruiserweight division, and as much as he claimed he was making it important, he wasn't. Less than a year after their breakup, both would be gone from WWE for different yet very similar reasons.

The Breakup Of The Realest Guys In The Room And Their Subsequent Feud
In the summer of 2017, both Enzo and Cass were being found beaten down backstage for a few weeks. There were some investigations. The Big Show and The Revival were prime suspects, but of course, they were meant to be red herrings until the "shock" reveal that Big Cass was the one behind the attacks. Yes, Big Cass attacked himself to hide the fact that he was sick of Enzo and Corey Graves was the one who made the reveal. Besides those head-scratching moments, it did make some sense. Enzo runs his mouth, gets beaten up because of it, and expects Cass to always be there. Cass gets tired of that, realizes he's being weighed down by Enzo, and turns on him.
At Great Balls of Fire, Cass squashed Enzo, which should've been the end of the feud, but it wasn't. Cass drew the ire of The Big Show, which culminated in a match at SummerSlam. This was during the period of time when WWE had a strange obsession with shark cages. That's exactly where Enzo would be during the match just for the climax to be him lathering himself up in baby oil and stripping down to his underwear. The match wasn't very good, but that still wouldn't be the end of it. The two had one more match, a street fight, which ended prematurely as this is where Cass tore his ACL and was put on the shelf for months.

Enzo And Cass Failed As Singles Stars And Were Released By WWE
It's actually kind of scary how quickly these guys failed in their singles run. Enzo went off to the cruiserweight division and claimed that he was making it important. He would point to the fact that ratings were up for 205 Live and that the cruiserweights were headlining Raw. However, it was the part of Raw that the least amount of people watched at the time, but it gave him a talking point and no one ever denied that Enzo couldn't cut a promo. His line towards Cass, "You're just a seven-foot catchphrase that I wrote" was particularly memorable. His ability to talk was what got him in trouble though. He would run his mouth backstage, which many of the other wrestlers didn't like. He drew monster levels of heat and even got thrown off a tour bus by Roman Reigns. Finally, he was accused of sexual assault. WWE acted rather quickly and Enzo was gone.
Big Cass, on the other hand, was viewed as having lots of potential. He could've been a much bigger deal than he was, but unfortunately, he was suffering from his own demons. When he returned from injury, he immediately entered a feud with Daniel Bryan. Bryan was able to get some decent matches out of him, but the day after Money in the Bank 2018, Big Cass was released. Wrestling fans were shocked as he had just finished a big program with a top star. As time went on, more and more stories came out which explained his release. He would regularly become a nuisance backstage by expressing his discontent, not following orders, and running his mouth, not unlike Enzo. The straw that broke the camel's back was a segment on SmackDown where Cass would make fun of Daniel Bryan's height by attacking a little person. Cass was only meant to give the man a big boot, but he went into business for himself and continued to attack him. This angered the man himself, Vince McMahon, and there's no coming back from that.
It's unfortunate how things turned out because these guys had all the potential to be an amazing tag team. Enzo's ego and Cass's alcohol problems got in the way, however, and there was no turning back. Thankfully, Cass defeated his demons. He became a fixture on the indie scene, built his name back up in Impact, and is now signed to AEW. Enzo Amore now works for MLW as Real1.
