Not too long ago, Henry Cavill had to bid adieu to his role as Superman. Even though Cavill played a cameo role in Black Adam, only three months later, James Gunn clarified that he would no longer be playing Superman.

The director clarified that Cavill wasn’t fired because he was never cast in the first place. The cameo was the end of the story. Apparently, Gunn is planning on a younger character, and the almost 40 years old Cavill would not fit into the role.

According to Jeff Sneider, “Superman is ‘young, young, young.’ So I am now expecting Superman, the actor who’s going to be playing him, to be in his early to mid-twenties.”

Equipped with the criteria for the upcoming Superman: Legacy, we are now free to discuss which actor might suit the role best. Let’s take a look at the top 10 candidates on our list!

#10 Austin Butler

After bowling over Hollywood as Elvis, he is already a common name in the industry. His undeniable charisma can morph to suit any role, so why should Superman be any different?

#9 Ross Butler

This was 3 months ago when I was training with @thomasdelauer and eating right. Then I had my appendix taken out and I fell off the horse… One more month before summer officially starts so I gotta get back to this, esp after eating for a week in New York. Hold me to it, y'all.

Straight from Netflix hits like 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale, Ross Butler is a fresh face who has awed the audience. However, he is already a part of the DCU, and it is questionable if he will be recast.

Besides the slight problem, he deserves a big break with his talent.

#8 Michael B. Jordan

Turning Superman into a black character will be met with worldwide protests, but following the current trend, this might just become a reality. If it does come to that, we volunteer Michael B. Jordan for the role.

With enough experience in the field and a warm personality to watch, he might just be able to pull it off.

#7 Chase Stokes

Chase Thomas Laughlin
Screen name Chase Stokes

Obsessed with movies and fast cars
Proud of where I'm at and prouder of where I came from
Got my dad's sense of humor work ethic.

This young actor has just stepped into 30, but his role as John B. Routledge on Outer Banks was worth a watch. Being on the sets of Stranger Things might have also given him an idea or two about how superhero movies might work.

With a six feet tall stature and a disarming smile, he has the vibe you need to channel both Superman and Clark Kent.

#6 Dacre Montgomery

Another actor from Stranger Things whose existence is undeniable in the physique factor. He even starred in a 2017 Power Rangers film. Being 28 years old, he is only slightly over the requirement, but some compromises can be made, right?

#5 Liam Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth is booked as Thor, but his brother, Liam, might be DC’s unmined diamond. He is both young and handsome and has a good build, and he definitely shares the right Hemsworth genes.

Due to his young age, Gunn should have no problem since he is not turning old any sooner. Thus, the films will be unaffected for at least a decade.

#4 Taron Egerton

Kingsmen 2014 shot Taron Egerton into limelight. His performance as Elton John in Rocketman was also excellent. Often fans describe him as a perfect fit for superhero movies.

Be it the charisma or the physique, this British actor has them all. A sharp yet sweet face coupled with brooding expressions will be enough to make fans swoon.

#3 Adam DiMarco

DiMarco had a leading role in The White Lotus and recurring roles in ‘The Magicians’ and ‘The Order.’ He has an impressive resume to show. Did I mention he is 33? He doesn’t look a day older than 25 if you ask me.

The dark hair and cute face with robust features is exactly what suits Superman.

#2 Jacob Elordi

You might remember this hottie from The Kissing Booth and Euphoria. Elordi has made a name for himself and even landed big roles in upcoming movies.

His acting skills are topped with a 6ft5-inch height. Couple it with dark hair and a chiseled jaw; it is like envisioning Clark Kent in real life.

#1 David Corensweet

This brings us to our #1 candidate, David Corensweet, the actor from Pearl and Hollywood. He is the perfect match for the role, with a beautifully sculpted body and a face that matches Superman’s classic profile.

At just 29, he has achieved command over his acting skills, and his career is sure to shoot off even if he isn’t cast as Clark Kent.
