Despite being an actor renowned for his comedic talent and beloved collaborations with Wes Anderson, it's human nature to scrutinize appearances, and many people want to know what happened to Owen Wilson's nose. Wilson hails from Dallas, Texas, and is the middle child between two brothers, Andrew and Luke, also actors. When Wilson was attending the University of Texas, he befriended and became roommates with Wes Anderson. In 1992, Wilson starred in Anderson's short film, Bottle Rocket, which premiered at Sundance, upon which Anderson received funding to make it into a full-length feature, launching both his and Wilson's movie careers.

Wilson is Anderson's most frequent collaborator, and together the pair were nominated for a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for The Royal Tenenbaums. In addition to Wilson starring in seven of Anderson's movies and co-writing three, he became a member of the "Frat Pack" — a group of male actors who frequently appeared together in successful '90s and 2000s comedy films — and starred in hits like Zoolander and Wedding Crashers. In the 2020s, Wilson began working in TV, famously starring as Mobius M. Mobius in the MCU's Loki. Besides his impressive filmography, Wilson will always be known for his famous crooked nose, and many wonder how he got it.

In an interview with LA Times, Owen Wilson shared that he broke his nose two separate times in his youth. The first break was in a "high school scuffle" at St. Mark's High School in Dallas, where he grew up. Of his teen years, Wilson also shared that he was expelled from school for cheating, and refused to identify his cohort — though he would later name him as a character in one of his movies. Wilson's second nose break was less intentionally violent. He shared with Wired that his nose "got banged" playing intermural flag football at the University of Texas.

Sadly, reactions to Wilson's appearance have not been kind, and rude comments about his nose picked up as he stepped back into the spotlight as part of the Loki cast. Some have even had the gall to share their comments with Wilson himself, saying things like, "You look kind of odd, disfigured."

However, Wilson's response is very much in keeping with his cool, breezy persona that makes him so likable. He self-deprecatingly says, "You know, probably my nose wouldn’t have been that great even if it hadn’t been broken." Despite the troll comments aimed at Wilson, his nose hasn't seemed to slow his career down in the slightest. In 2023 alone, he starred in the films Haunted Mansion and Paint, and reprised his role as Mobius M. Mobius in Loki season 2. Ultimately, Owen Wilson's looks aren't what make him stand out — it's his talent.
