Six months after Vince McMahon suddenly retired from all of his roles in WWE, a day most fans thought they would never see, the chairman forced his way back into proceedings. While that has understandably made waves for a number of reasons, apparently, the only reason McMahon is back is to make sure a potential sale of WWE goes smoothly.

Vince McMahon's Insistence On Sticking Around

Now that the initial rumors and reports regarding who exactly might be interested in buying WWE have died down, there's currently no clear frontrunner as to who might have the cash and be willing to pay it. McMahon seemingly wanting to remain involved with the company beyond that sale may well have something to do with that.

According to CNBC, McMahon's insistence that he remain a part of the company regardless of who owns it has been problematic during early negotiations. “McMahon’s potential future involvement in WWE has become an early sticking point in preliminary talks with various buyers,” the article reads. That's according to people close to the situation who didn't want to be named for obvious reasons.

Holding Up The Sale

The fear that McMahon will not only demand he stick around, but once again become more heavily involved with WWE's on-screen product is likely one held by fans and WWE Superstars alike. Triple H, who remains head of WWE creative despite his wife Stephanie McMahon stepping down as co-CEO, held two talent meetings last month, assuring employees that as far as he understands, Vince will remain behind the scenes and not return to booking shows.

Despite that, Triple H admitted last week that it's nice to have Vince around again, specifically citing his father-in-law's “incredible insight”. That comment led many to assume The Game may well have been to Vince for advice since he returned to WWE HQ. As for whether Vince can be involved with the company at all beyond a potential sale, they may well depend on the outcome of investigations into the allegations that led to his retirement.
