Reby Hardy has revealed that her husband Matt remains in hospital after falling 15 feet at All Out and hitting his head on a concrete floor.
AEW's latest PPV All Out took place this weekend and has been receiving mixed reviews. The bulk of the criticism has been placed on a particular spot that took place during the Broken Rules match between Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara. The two of them were supposed to fall from a structure through a strategically placed table below.
The trouble is, that isn't what happened, not exactly. The two of them overshot the table when they fell through it together, and Hardy wound up smashing the back of his head on the concrete floor below. Hardy appeared to be knocked out and was tended to by official Aubrey Edwards and AEW's doctor Michael Sampson.
Things then got a little confusing. Even though Edwards had signaled for the bell and called for the match to come to an end, Hardy got to his feet soon after and the match continued. At first it appeared as if Hardy had overruled Sampson and insisted the match continue. However, Tony Khan confirmed after All Out had gone off the air that the bell was to indicate the match had been paused, and Sampson deemed Hardy fit to continue.
The picture Matt's wife Reby Hardy has been painting since the fall tells a different. Reby shared a screenshot of messages she sent to her husband after the fall, tweeting that everyone involved should be ashamded. Today, Reby has provided an update on Matt. She has revealed that the former WWE Superstar remains in hospital, that he needs additional imaging following his CT scan, and that it is "1000%" a concussion.
AEW officials don't appear to be getting much sympathy for how the situation was handled. Some have said it's Hardy's fault the match was allowed to continue, but if he was indeed suffering from a concussion, which seems likely, he wouldn't have been fit to make a decision like that one. The overall concensus is that the match should have been stopped so that Hardy could have been taken care of right away.
