Fans in attendance for the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2022-23 home opener against the Washington Capitals were treated to a surprise appearance from WWE legend Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
The crowd at Scotiabank Arena was fired up to learn that The Rock was also in attendance for the game. He walked into the arena and screamed "What's up Toronto?", which predictably got the place rocking. And during a stoppage of play in the first period, The Rock held a microphone and led a boisterous "Let's Go Leafs" chant.
The Maple Leafs also sent the crowd home happy by defeating Alexander Ovechkin's club 3-2. Auston Matthews scored the game-winning goal at the 6:55 mark of the third period, and goalie Ilya Samsonov turned aside 24 shots against his former to help Toronto win their first game of the season. This came one day after the Leafs dropped a heartbreaker 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

This wasn't the only recent appearance from The Rock at a major sporting event. The People's Champion also had the honors of introducing both the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals ahead of Super Bowl 56 kickoff. The WWE icon fired up the fans in SoFi Stadium by cutting one of his vintage promos on the field at SoFi Stadium.
Hopefully We'll Get The Rock At WrestleMania 39
If WWE and sports entertainment fans are lucky, we will also get The Rock at WrestleMania 39 weekend. That event will also take place inside SoFi Stadium, and many are holding out hope for a dream match between The Rock and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
There has been speculation for a while about these two legends facing off at The Show of Shows. The Rock wouldn't confirm if he'll actually face Reigns at WrestleMania 39 weekend, but it's a match that WWE reportedly wants. Only time will tell if we get this once-in-a-lifetime showdown.
