Star Craig Robinson declares his support for a potential The Office reunion, eager to see what his character Darryl Philbin has been up to.

The Office Darryl Craig Robinson

Craig Robinson wants to see Darryl in a The Office reunion. The American sitcom based on the British original of the same name ran for nine seasons from 2005-13, and while it received a mixed response in its early episodes, shifting away from the tone of its source material helped it become its own, successful show. The Office took home the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for season 2 in 2006, and it has proved enduringly popular in the age of streaming.

One of the key reasons fans continue to love the show is its cast of characters, who all had distinct personalities and often extensive arcs across the nine seasons. Robinson's Darryl Philbin, for example, is introduced in The Office season 1 as the warehouse foreman, though he becomes increasingly involved with the office staff and at one point applies to be manager. Ultimately, he leaves Dunder Mifflin with Jim and joins Athlead, ending the series as their V.P. of Athlete Relations.

Now, in an interview with The Daily Beast, Robinson expresses his support for a The Office reunion. The actor says that, especially if original adaptor Greg Daniels is spearheading it, he wants to be involved in what he's sure will be a great project. Robinson is eager to see what Darryl is up to now, given his arc at the end of the show. Check out his full quote below:

If they said, ‘Hey, we’re doing a reunion’ or what have you, I would be like, ‘Yo, what’s up? What’s Darryl doing now?’ If Greg Daniels is spearheading it, then it is going to be fantastic.

While Robinson also describes how fun it was working with series star Steve Carrell in the interview, that highlights one of the biggest obstacles to a The Office reunion. Fans remain appreciative of how the series ended, but it is widely perceived to have seen a dip in quality following the departure of Carrell's Michael Scott in season 7, and he has expressed skepticism about the idea of returning to the character for further episodes. Even if fans are eager to revisit the show's characters nearly a decade after its finale, any The Office reboot without Michael would likely not be what they're hoping for.

That said, Robinson is not the only star to have declared their support for the concept, as Dwight Schrute actor Rainn Wilson is also eager to return. Given the recent string of cast reunion specials and outright series revivals, it's hard to imagine NBC not pulling the trigger on one for The Office sometime soon, even if Carrell declines to participate. Should that happen, viewers can at least count on seeing what Robinson's Darryl has been up to.
