The Houston Texans have pushed their winning streak to eight games following their win against the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.

The final score was 34 to 17 for the Texans. They have now won eight straight games since beginning the season with a record of 0-3. With their record of now 8-3, the Texans continue to hold a two-game lead over the Indianapolis Colts for the division lead.

Deshaun Watson has been the key to success for the Texans during their win streak. Which hasn’t been easy for Watson because he has been battling injuries all season.

He sustained a cracked rib, a bruised lung, and a partially collapsed lung during Week 5’s match-up against the Cowboys. He has played through all that pain and hasn’t missed a game.

This helped the Texans to win eight straight games. Watson had multiple players that he has been able to rely on this season. Which has played a big factor for this team’s winning streak.

Even after Will Fuller was lost for the season with a torn ACL, the Texans went out and traded for Demaryius Thomas from the Denver Broncos. So that Watson would still have two great options at the receiver position with Thomas and DeAndre Hopkins.

This past Monday night’s game was just another example of how many weapons Watson has on offense with him. Running back, Lamar Miller, was the most productive player on the offensive side for the Texans. He rushed for 162 yards on just twelve carries, that was capped off by a 97-yard touchdown run.

Along with Miller’s performance, Thomas was the second most productive player on offense for the Texans. He produced 38 receiving yards with two touchdowns on four receptions. Although he wasn’t targeted much in the game, he made every catch count.

However, one of the biggest reasons the Texans won this game and have won eight straight is because of their defense. In their game against the Titans, the Texans’ defense held them to just 17 points.

The Titans were never able to create any kind of rhythm because of the performance of the Texans’ defense. They caused the Titans to go three-and-out four times during the game. Their defense also caused the Titans to turn the ball over twice during the game, once on downs and another because of a fumble.

All these factors have been to what has led the Texans to win eight straight games. So, they will need everyone on the team to continue to perform the way they have during this win streak, if they are going to win the AFC South division.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The Texans have been one of the most underrated teams in the AFC this season. They’re quietly tied for the second-best record in the AFC at 8-3. Most people don’t give them the respect they deserve because they don’t have the resume like the Steelers and Patriots do.

Regardless of what they have done in the past, the Texans are a real contender in the AFC. So you should start giving them the respect they deserve because they will surprise a lot of people come this January during the playoffs.
