Many great TV shows have been released on Epix in recent years. Some are way more enjoyable than the rest, and IMDb perfectly points them out.

Despite being launched over a decade ago, Epix, a subsidiary of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), only started investing heavily in original programming in 2017. Since then, many great shows have come out and a good number of them are still airing to date. The shows range from historical dramas to spy thrillers to comedies.

But which are some of the best shows on the network? Fans eager to explore the Epix menu might find it hard, since plenty of palatable offerings have been added in the last five years alone. Luckily, IMDb ratings make it easier to sift out the excellent ones from the large pool of good ones.

10 Britannia (2018 - Present) - 6.8

This historical drama starts in 43 AD and follows Rome's General Aulus Plautius as he seeks to conquer England. However, he soon finds out that there is a big reason Julius Ceasar failed in such a similar quest.

Britannia perfectly merges real-life occurrences and fantasy, making it ideal viewing for both history buffs and fans of fantasy shows like Game Of Thrones. The show doesn't go slow on adult language and violence either. Furthermore, the themes are darker, with the only major problem being the slow unfolding of events compared to similar shows.

9 Domina (2021 - Present) - 7.1

Sky Drama series Domina Romans on horses

Yet another tale about Rome, Domina follows the life of Livia Drusilla. Viewers get to see her rise from a young girl right after Julius Caesar's assassination to her adult life as Emperor Augustus' wife.

Domina shines above other historical dramas by examining things from a female perspective. Feminist angles are used unapologetically and as such, themes such as chauvinism and discrimination get touched on frequently. The production design is quite impressive too, leaving viewers with no choice but to appreciate the work that has been put in.

8 Chapelwaite (2021 - Present) - 7.2

Minister Burroughs escorts a woman down the street on Chapelwaite

A captain relocates his family to a small town after his wife dies at sea. There, he is forced to deal with dark historical events surrounding his family.

The brilliance of Chapelwaite lies in how it spends a lot of time laying the foundation for the story it wants to tell. The show prepares audiences well before launching itself into full supernatural territory. Moreover, almost everything creates an eerie feeling, including the fact that most of the characters speak in harsh whispers. Horror and gothic fans will definitely enjoy it.

7 Belgravia (2020) - 7.5

A wealthy family gets an invite to the Duchess of Richmond's ball, two days before the infamous Battle of Waterloo. The secrets revealed during the night get to change history forever.

Epix has poured millions into historical dramas and Belgravia doesn't disappoint either. With Downtown Abbey's Nigel Marchant and Gareth Neame serving as executive producers, there is no room for failure. There are multiple subplots and none of them feel unnecessary because the ensemble cast is large and capable enough to execute them.

6 Berlin Station (2016 - 2019) - 7.6

Leland Orser Michelle Forbes and Keke Palmer in Berlin Station EPIX

A CIA analyst is thrust into fieldwork and gets sent to the agency's Berlin station. There, he uncovers large conspiracies that stretch all the way to Washington.

Berlin Station can't be considered one of the best spy thrillers in recent years, but it's entertaining enough to satisfy fans of the genre. Part of what makes shows like these incredible is the ever-present corrupted agent and there are plenty of those here. As such, there's a constant sense of unpredictability, with fans kept guessing about who the next dirty person will be.

5 Perpetual Grace (2019) - 7.6

A young grifter tries to prey upon a town preacher and his wife. However, he finds out that they are much more lethal than he expected.

Perpetual Grace cruises smoothly thanks to the talented cast that includes Ben Kingsley and Luis Guzman. The dialogue is rich and poetic too, and as such, there are many memorable lines. Fans of early 20th century productions will also enjoy how black and white is constantly used, especially in the flashback scenes.

4 Condor (2018 - Present) - 7.8

CIA Agent Joe Turner flees from pursuers in Condor

A CIA analyst shows up in the office after a lunch break only to find everyone dead. To protect his own life, he goes on the run and manages to uncover a deep conspiracy.

Condor mostly makes a case for itself as one of the best TV shows adapted from movies because of its fast pace. While popular espionage dramas like Homeland and The Americans slow down all too regularly, the Epix show never does that. Like a Hitchcock project, there is always an air of franticness and suspense.

3 Pennyworth (2019 - Present) - 7.9

Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth

Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, is one of the most popular characters in superhero media and his early life is explored here. After forming his own security company, the former British SAS soldier goes on to work for Bruce's father, Thomas.

Smallville and Gotham proved that DC does the best original tales and Pennyworth is no letdown either. Instead of the all too familiar American setting, the drama mostly keeps things in Britain. Spy themes are incorporated too, making it clear that this is not a tale about Batman but about the man who would serve him,

2 Godfather Of Harlem (2019 - Present) - 8.1

Serving as a prequel to Denzel Washington's American Gangster, the crime drama follows Harlem crime boss Bumpy Johnson as he fights for control of New York with the Italian mafia. Events mostly occur in the 60s.

Forrest Whitaker is one of the few actors who rarely give a bad performance and in Godfather Of Harlem, he does make himself an Emmy contender. Apart from just being a shoot-em-up gangster story, the series also explores the Civil Rights Movement. Malcolm X bosses the proceedings just as much as Bumpy, his presence giving viewers two different narratives to follow.

1 Get Shorty (2017 - 2019) - 8.2

Miles meets his agent in Get Shorty

Hoping to make his daughter proud, a mafia enforcer decides to change careers and become a movie producer. But when he lands in Hollywood, his past life follows him.

As one of the best best shows about Hollywood, this Elmore Leonard adaptation relies on deadpan humor to drive its narrative. Characters who would normally come off as intimidating end up being very funny. But even though humor shines through every episode, there is always a sense of danger too. The mafia is involved after all.
