WWE World Champion Seth Rollins, in a recent interview with ESPN MMA's Daniel Cormier, provided an optimistic update on his recovery following an injury scare. Rollins revealed that while he escaped a severe ACL injury, his MCL will heal with time, aiming for a return to full strength in approximately a month. This is a much better prognosis than what was originally feared and even what he revealed on Monday Night Raw.
While he called it his own self-made timeline, Rollins, who expressed relief at avoiding a prolonged absence, is determined to step back into the ring before WrestleMania 40. He emphasized the significance of being part of the marquee event, especially with the added importance of this year's edition marking the 40th anniversary. He noted, "The MCL will heal with time. We’ll get in there, we’ll do some stuff, we’ll check out the PRP and do some rehab,” Seth Rollins said.
Seth Rollins Says He'll Defend Title At WrestleMania 40
Despite the uncertainty of his serious knee injury, Seth Rollins says he'll defend his WWE Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40.He added:
“I’m hoping to be back at full strength in around a month. Around a month is kind of my timeline, and we’ll see what happens. We’re gonna take it day to day. I’d like to be back in a month."
Reflecting on his unique position as a reigning world champion heading into WrestleMania, Rollins acknowledged the challenge of rehabilitation but remained confident in his desire to test his abilities before the grand event. He believes he might have a match before the biggest show of the year. He noted, “I don’t want to walk into WrestleMania and that be my first match in two months, three months, whatever it is. That’s not gonna be good for me. I wanna be able to get back in there, kind of test the wheel out and make sure that we’re in a good place." He added, "So we’ll see how it goes, but I’m taking it day by day, and I’m happy that we dodged a bullet and it wasn’t anything too serious that was gonna put me on the shelf for six to nine months.”
Rollins, who has never carried a world title into WrestleMania, sees this opportunity as a milestone in his career, sharing the spotlight with Roman Reigns as two reigning champions for the first time ever.
