Pat McAfee, the former punter for the Indianapolis Colt turned ESPN and podcast personality, has done wonders for WWE since debuting with the company in 2018. After spending time with NXT as part of TakeOver broadcasts, before becoming a part-time wrestler who had a memorable feud with Adam Cole, McAfee became part of the SmackDown commentator team. His energy made the show more exciting and gave lead commentator Michael Cole new life. McAfee's popularity even saw him compete in a WWE ring, such as when he faced Austin Theory at WrestleMania 38. Last year he stepped away from WWE to work on ESPN's College Game Day. He has only returned to WWE once, as a surprise commentator for this year's Royal Rumble. Now McAfee is openly wondering if he still wants to work for WWE at all.In a very long tweet, Pat McAfee talked about the success of his podcast, his family, the Brett Favre lawsuit, and his WWE future. "Baby girl on the way… what’s that mean for my future with @WWE? I LOVE it but, they’re allegedly gonna be sold, who’s buying them? Do I want to work/make money for those people?" (h/t Fightful)

WWE Needs Pat McAfee More Than He Needs Them
Pat McAfee has never been shy with his feelings. He's always sharing what's on his mind, which makes you wonder if WWE was unaware of his uncertainties with them. WWE needs Pat McAfee. While Wade Barrett has been great on SmackDown as Michael Cole's new sidekick, he doesn't bring the passion or the name recognition that McAfee he does. He is a man that is known all over the sports world, and his work with WWE makes the company look more mainstream and cool. If McAfee was to leave WWE, he has so many other endeavors that would keep him busy.
Pat McAfee certainly isn't the only one thinking about his future in WWE. The impending sale is making many people backstage anxious. Hopefully WWE's new owners will be someone that can work with McAfee, because his rare talent would certainly be missed.
