The film Fighting With My Family, MGM’s upcoming biopic of current SmackDown Live general manager Paige and her wrestling family, won’t be coming out later this year as originally hoped. Instead, it got pushed back earlier this week to a March 1, 2019 premiere date.
Produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, while MGM acquired the global rights to the film in 2017, Fighting With My Family stars British actress Florence Pugh as Paige, and while she may not be a household name to most movie fans outside her home country, the film comes with a star-studded supporting cast.

The cast of Fighting With My Family also includes Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Nick Frost, who is best known for his appearances alongside Simon Pegg in Edgar Wright’s “Cornetto Trilogy” of sci-fi comedies, who will be playing Paige’s parents, Sweet Saraya and Ricky Knight. Vince Vaughn and Kim Matula are also listed in the cast, while The Rock (as himself), brand-new Impact Wrestling signee Tessa Blanchard (as Paige's stunt double) and recent main roster call-up Zelina Vega (as Paige's first main roster rival, AJ Lee) will be representing the wrestling community onscreen in the film. Fighting with My Family is written and directed by Stephen Merchant, who co-wrote and co-directed the original British version of the popular sitcom The Office.
As Deadline noted, Fighting With My Family will have some tough competition on its debut week, as DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World, Fox’s The Kid Who Would Be King, and Lionsgate’s Chaos Walking would also premiere that same weekend.

Allow us to play devil's advocate for a moment. Paige's contract was previously reported to be due to expire sometime in 2019. Since Paige was supposedly advised by WWE doctors as early as January that her pro wrestling career may be over, it's not inconceivable for her to seek a second opinion elsewhere, be told she can still wrestle after all and want to leave the WWE so she could compete elsewhere, given that she's only 25-years-old. As the film is also co-produced by WWE Studios, this might be a calculated move on WWE's part to keep her from asking to be released from her contract, though once again, we're just throwing that out there; with Fighting with My Family now delayed until next year, we're mostly hoping that the long wait will be worth it.
