WWE released Troy Donovan earlier this month, otherwise known as Two Dimes on NXT TV. Donovan was a member of Tony D'Angelo's The Family and had only been introduced to viewers very recently, signing with the company in March of this year. His short stay in NXT came to an end due to a wellness policy violation, the finer details of which haven't yet been revealed.
Written Off TV
Even though Donovan hadn't been on NXT TV long, there was an on-screen issue WWE needed to deal with. D'Angelo's Family has been heavily involved in angles on a weekly basis, and The Don had just come off a big win at In Your House when Donovan was released. To make matters worse, the two episodes of NXT 2.0 immediately after Donovan's release had already been taped, and he featured in both.

Tuesday night's NXT was the first taping since Donovan's release, which meant the situation needed to be addressed. Or completely ignored, which is always an option when it comes to WWE. That might have been preferable to what WWE decided to do. Instead of just pretending Donovan was never there, D'Angelo threw the former WWE Superstar's jacket off a bridge and implied he'd been killed.
Sleeping With The Fishes
D'Angelo specifically said Donovan is “sleeping with the fishes”. An odd direction to go, but at least it sort of makes sense in terms of D'Angelo's character. Donovan had slipped up in-character shortly before his release, and D'Angelo implied he had no choice after Two Dimes ateempted to make a move on his position as leader of The Family.
The glaring issue here is if WWE ever re-signs Donovan and reintroduces him to the brand. That might prove a little awkward should it ever happen. On the bright side, Donovan was around for so little time, many fans might not recognize him when he comes back. Having Donovan return from the dead and go after D'Angelo would also be a pretty cool built-in angle to go to if Two Dimes ever does emerge from that river.
