Daniel Bryan is set to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship on this week's episode of SmackDown.

The match, of course, carries a major stipulation.

Reigns offered Bryan one final opportunity to dethrone him as the champion. If Bryan loses, however, he'll be forced to leave SmackDown.

At first, it wasn't exactly specified if Bryan will be forced to leave WWE altogether if he loses, or if he'll only have to leave SmackDown.

WWE.com's preview for the Reigns-Bryan match states that the latter will "be banished from SmackDown" if he loses. So if Bryan fails to defeat Reigns, one can only assume that we'll see him move to Monday Night Raw or even possibly NXT.

Bryan recently stated that his WWE contract is about to expire, and that he's interested in wrestling for other promotions. But if Bryan's plan is to leave WWE very soon, it would have made more sense for him to put his career on the line this Friday.

On last week's show, the future Hall of Famer teamed up with Cesaro in a winning effort against Seth Rollins (who abandoned the match) and Jey Uso.

Bryan then endorsed Cesaro and pushed Reigns to give him a Universal Championship opportunity. Reigns refused, however, telling Cesaro that he isn't on his level.

And so, after losing falling short against Reigns at Fastlane and WrestleMania 37 (in a triple threat match involving Edge), Bryan has one third and final opportunity to defeat him for the Universal Championship.

This Should Be An Epic Match

Regardless of who wins, the Reigns-Bryan bout should go down as one of the most memorable matches in the history of SmackDown. Either the future Hall of Famer pulls off the stunning upset, or Reigns continues to add to his legendary status with another victory over the WWE legend.
