Mike Tyson will be returning to AEW Dynamite after nearly a year away from the brand. The boxer, who has had a comeback match against Roy Jones Jr. since his confrontation with Chris Jericho last May, has been confirmed for an appearance this Wednesday by AEW president Tony Khan.

Khan revealed as much during an interview with Sports Illustrated this week, pointing out Tyson was a great exhibit for the promotion when he was last put on television. With the company looking to welcome fans back, Khan is keen on having the boxer around for the crowds.

“He made a huge impact last year at Double or Nothing, and we’re at a point where we can bring him back in front of our fans," he told the publication.

"The fans who have come to the shows in Jacksonville have added so much to AEW, and it’s important for me that our fans get to see him live. We’re excited to have Mike back."

AEW gave more on this in a press release on Tuesday.

AEW Mike Tyson

A Huge Wednesday Night

Back when Tyson appeared on AEW TV, there were no fans in view. This will be his first bit of action in front of an AEW crowd. The 54-year-old was the one who presented Cody Rhodes with the new TNT Championship at Double or Nothing last year, also getting into a wild scrap with Jericho during an episode of Dynamite.

Jericho is also scheduled to appear on this Wednesday's show and we hope to see some fireworks between the two stars.

AEW Dynamite is set to compete with NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver on Wednesday night. It will be interesting to see how the younger brand performs on the back of their announcement pertaining to Tyson, given that this show is expected to be a big one for NXT.
