WWE fans are really getting behind Liv Morgan right now and have been for a while. She gets a great reaction whenever her music hits and might well be one of the strongest babyfaces WWE has on the women's side of things. Which begs the question, why isn't she being pushed more? Yes, Morgan is wrestling on TV pretty much every week, but that alone isn't enough. In fact, it's indicative of a bigger problem in WWE that has been in place for years. Putting a Superstar fans love front and center so they can cheer them, but never actually doing anything with them.
Liv Morgan vs. Carmella 17
To prove Morgan is the latest Superstar to receive this unfavorable treatment, cast your mind back to the last person Morgan faced who wasn't Carmella. If you're struggling to think of who it was, that's because it has been more than a month since Morgan faced anyone else. Since losing to Zelina Vega on September 24, Morgan has wrestled Carmella on five separate occasions. Her rivalry dates all the way back to June of this year and looks set to continue now that both Superstars have been drafted to Raw.

Morgan's extended rivalry with Carmella looked like it might be leading somewhere when the two of them squared off in the first round of the Queen's Crown tournament. Finally, a match between the two where something was actually on the line. Fast forward a few minutes, which actually turned out to be pretty long for a Queen's Crown match, and Morgan was being eliminated from a tournament that she probably should have won.
That hope and belief is exactly what WWE is banking on you having, at least for now. That every time you see Morgan, which is often, her fans believe this will be the time she breaks through and moves on to something bigger. Oh, this will be the start of her moving on and winning the Queen's Crown tournament, or this will be the match where she sends Carmella packing for good. Instead, the 50/50 booking continues. Eventually, that belief will fade, and fans will no longer care whether Morgan gets her deserved big break or not.
Liv Morgan Is The New Cesaro
This isn't an isolated incident. It's a formula WWE has used in the past and continues to use because it has worked in their favor. Earlier this year Cesaro was finally thrust into the World Title picture. After years of watching him tread water in the mid-card, at which point most of his fans had given up hope, The Swiss Cyborg got his shot. A terrific series of matches with Seth Rollins led him to the door of Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. We all knew he wasn't going to win, but it still felt good. One main event match later and WWE returned Cesaro to his usual station, exactly where they want him to be.

There is an exception, and it's a big one. Someone that should give Morgan fans hope that the glass ceiling in place can be broken. Daniel Bryan. Bryan is evidence that WWE has been using this formula for the better part of a decade. He is also evidence that the formula can be broken. It requires the full backing of the fans, though. The will to fight back against the tide that is WWE without relenting. Only then will the machine listen, cave, and give a fan favorite what they deserve. It might not be an iconic WrestleMania main event for Morgan, but it could be a run with the Women's Title.
Is Morgan Capable Of Being The Next Daniel Bryan?
The sad reality is, the Bryan treatment probably won't happen for Morgan. For every Bryan there are at least ten Cesaros, and that is almost definitely an underestimate. WWE will keep showing us Morgan versus Carmella rematches until fans are so sick of it that we just want the two of them to go away. Perfect for a heel Carmella, but a reaction that could spell disaster for Morgan, at least when it comes to her getting the chance to do anything more than she has done already.
There's a chance Morgan is fine with all this. She is a WWE Superstar competing on international TV almost every single week, with the odd PPV match in there for good measure. It could definitely be worse. Morgan has watched her Riott Squad team members lose their jobs in WWE while she remains employed. While one alternative is a higher platform in the company, the others are barely being on TV at all or even worse, being released. The thing is, Morgan strikes me as someone who will continue to strive for more in WWE, even if that means risking her safe and stable spot in the company.
