Last year, Kurt Angle revealed that WWE offered him the chance to manage Riddle — who debuted for the main roster during the June 19 episode of SmackDown.
Angle initially explained that there were several reasons behind his decision to turn down the opportunity. On the May 29 episode of SmackDown, Angle welcomed Riddle to the main roster in a backstage segment. Just over a month earlier, the Olympic gold medalist was released from his contract as a WWE producer during the company's first major round of layoffs.
During an appearance on Talk Is Jericho (h/t Sportskeeda Wrestling), the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he was also given an offer to coach in NXT. Angle also explained that he rejected the manager role for Riddle because of the low financial offer.
"They did offer me a few jobs, though," Angle said. "They wanted me to be a coach at NXT. Then they wanted me to manage Matt Riddle, which I was very interested in and I thought that would be really entertaining. But, the money was horrible (laughs). I'm sorry, but when we talk about money, it better be at least worth it if we were going to do it. This amount was not worth it."

Angle retired from in-ring competition following his loss to Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35. The company hired him as a producer soon after, but as noted above, Angle was released from his contract in Apr. 2020 when WWE began a long series of cuts.
The former World Champion wrestled occassionally for WWE in his second tenure with the company, making his in-ring return at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2017, where he helped Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (The Shield) win a 5-on-3 handicap match against Kane, Braun Strowman, Sheamus, Cesaro and The Miz.
Angle Is Done As A Wrestler
The wrestling icon revealed earlier this year that both Impact Wrestling and AEW offered him wrestling contracts, but the 52-year-old turned them both down. Angle wrestled for Impact (then known as TNA) from 2006 to 2016 before returning to WWE in 2017, where he spent more than a year as the GM of Raw.
Angle also explained that he'd like to stay "loyal" to WWE, which is why he doesn't plan on signing with AEW. His retirement match against Corbin was extremely underwhelming and rather uneventful to many, but Angle clearly isn't thrilled on the idea of returning for one more run.
