SummerSlam has understandably dominated headlines this weekend, but tucked into the title changes and betrayals as WWE's second biggest show of the year was a report revealing Kairi Sane will be returning to the company. Leaving the promotion in 2020, but continuing to work for WWE as an ambassador in her native Japan, it's believed Sane could be a fully-fledged WWE Superstar again before the end of 2023.

Kairi Sane Is Coming Back

PWInsider was the first to report Sane is headed back to WWE. After that report started to circulate, Sane posted a message on social media confirming she will be holding a press conference at some point on Sunday. That hasn't happened at the time of typing this, but the timing of the message certainly suggests Sane will be using the conference to confirm that she has reached a new deal with WWE and will be returning to the promotion as a Superstar.

F4W Online has shed a little light on Sane's prospective timeline. Dave Meltzer revealed the former NXT Women's Champion has two more dates to fulfill in Japan that take her up to November and after that, she'd be free to return to the US and WWE. That potentially means Sane is a WWE Superstar again before the end of 2023. However, if I were to hazard a guess at when she might be back, everything considered, the 2024 women's Royal Rumble match might be a good spot.

A WWE Ambassador

Despite doing some ambassador work for WWE, and even being a part of the Japanese announce team, her dealings with the company officially came to an end in December 2021. It was believed Sane decided to leave WWE in 2020 after getting married earlier that same year. Sane was unable to see her husband very often as he lived in Japan, hence the decision to move back and be closer to him.

If the reports Sane has struck a new deal with WWE are accurate, and they certainly appear to be, perhaps her husband will be coming with her. The fantasy booking for her return has already begun. Asuka losing her title at SummerSlam has sparked a few ideas. Sane and Asuka were once Women's Tag Team Champions, working as The Kabuki Warriors. However, unless Sane will be back in WWE very soon, Asuka will have some time to fill before her former tag partner returns.
