From built-in navigation apps to instant messaging platforms, there are several ways to share your location from iPhone to an Android phone.

The iPhone doesn't make it easy to share a user's location with an Android device, but there are several apps that enable this feature. Location sharing is a useful safety tool that keeps a user's friends and family informed about their whereabouts. It can also be vital in an emergency. Given that modern smartphones feature inbuilt GPS, sharing one's location has never been easier.

There are multiple ways to share location from iPhone to Android. The simplest way to do this is via Apple Maps. Every iPhone comes with Apple's navigation app installed. Open the app, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, and tap the 'Share My Location' option. On the next screen, choose an app or contact to share the location with, or tap 'Copy' and paste the location link in a messaging app of choice. On an Android phone, this link will open Apple Maps' in the browser. However, the receiver can press the 'Directions' button to view directions to the location in Google Maps.

Share Live Location From iPhone To Android

While sharing location from Apple Maps is convenient, it doesn't offer a way to share a user's live location with Android users. To do this, users will need to use the Google Maps app. Download the Google Maps app (if not installed already) and ensure that it has access to the iPhone's location. Now, open the app and tap on the blue dot. In the menu that appears, tap 'Share Location.' Choose how long to enable location-sharing, and hit 'More options' toward the bottom of the screen. Select a contact or app to share the location with, or tap 'Copy' to copy the live location link and share it with a contact.

Users can also rely on social media or instant messaging apps for sharing their location, and since these apps are available on both operating systems, they're easy to use. WhatsApp is a great example, and allows users to share their live or current location. Open the app, go to a chat, hit the plus icon in the bottom left corner, and then select 'Location.' Select either 'Live Location' to share real-time location, or 'Current Location' to share only the current location of the device. For the former, users also need to specify the location-sharing duration.

When someone shares their location using Google Maps, their name, photograph, device's recent location, battery percentage, and arrival/departure time is also shared. In comparison, the Apple Maps link simply shares the location. This difference exists because there's no Apple Maps app for Android, while Google Maps has both iOS and Android apps. As for WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform shares users' profile pictures if they choose to share their Live Location, or only the coordinates if they choose Current Location. There are other apps that enable location sharing from iPhone to Android, but these are the three best ones.
