Players looking to evolve Sunkern into Sunflora in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will need to use a Sun Stone to trigger the evolution.

To evolve Sunkern into a Sunflora in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players will first need to find a particular item, the Sun Stone. Throughout the Pokémon franchise, there have always been several ways to level up Pokémon. While most will naturally achieve this upon reaching certain levels, others require special items to evolve, as without them, they will remain in their original form forever, regardless of their level. Evolving a Pokémon can be very beneficial as it often increases their stats and allows them to learn new and stronger moves.

An example of these items is Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Moon Stone, which in the original Pokémon Red and Blue games and the TV show was famously required by Clefairy to evolve into Clefable. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, not only are there more kinds of Evolution Stones, such as the Sun Stone, but other criteria have been added, such as certain Pokémon, which evolve into different forms depending on whether it is daytime or nighttime. For example, evolving Sunkern into a Sunflora does not require players to reach a certain level or be at a particular time of day, as the only requirement is having and using a Sun Stone.

How to Evolve Sunkern into Sunflora in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Sunkern and Sunflora are grass-types in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and as such, are strong against Ground-, Rock- and Water-type Pokémon and weak against Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, Ice- and Poison-type Pokémon. The only way to evolve Sunkern into a Sunflora is to use a Pokémon Evolution Stone, more specifically, a Sun Stone, which can be done at any level. However, it may prove fruitful to not evolve it too soon, as there may be some abilities that players want that can only be learned by Sunkern at certain levels. Fortunately, Sun Stones are not among the rarest items in the game and can be found in several locations.

Sunkern can be found in the area marked on the map above, and even Sunflora can be found in the wild in similar flower biomes of higher levels. After acquiring a Sunkern, players can look for Sun Stones by completing the Artazon Gym Test to receive as a reward, according to Sportskeeda, by exploring the Asado Desert region, which may prove more difficult as the drops are random and quite rare. After acquiring the Sun Stone, players can go to their bag's menu and use it on a Sunkern to immediately trigger the Sunflora evolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
