It's a bit ironic, but the genre of pro wrestling has actually told some great love stories over the years, especially in WWE. While romance in wrestling isn't every fan's cup of tea, it does extend the appeal of the business to those it wouldn't necessarily otherwise.

Many wrestling storylines involving a couple have helped elevate a talent to the next level, by showing another layer of themselves to the audience. Of course, few, if any romantic couples have stood the test of time in WWE, often having their breakup exploited in order to create compelling television. Here's a look back at some of WWE's most beloved couples and how their saga ultimately came to an end.
10 Daniel Bryan And AJ Lee
While Daniel Bryan and AJ Lee weren't exactly the most prolific couple in WWE history, they were certainly a memorable one. Both wrestlers were floundering a bit before coming together, although Bryan was in possession of the Money in the Bank briefcase at the time. They would both emerge as much different versions of themselves after their relationship had ended. It was certainly a memorable ending as well, when during the 1000th episode of Raw, the couple were set to wed. The only rule for wrestling weddings is that they don't go as planned, and this was no exception. AJ would literally leave Bryan at the altar, in favor of Mr. McMahon's "proposal," asking her to become the new General Manager of Raw.
9 Nidia And Jamie Noble
Because Nidia and Jamie Noble were strictly a mid-card act, they sometimes fall under the radar in the pantheon of great WWE couples. However, these two were gold together, and actually received a good deal of TV time. Their decline was set in motion when Nidia would be blinded by Tajiri's "mist," resulting in her having to wear a blindfold for several weeks. Jamie Noble would take advantage of the situation and begin using Nidia as a sort of weapon to win his matches, unbeknownst to her. When he was outed, Nidia would confront him, and the two would even end up having a match at No Way Out in 2003, in which Noble was forced to wear a blindfold.
8 Rusev And Lana
Rusev and Lana are the most recent couple to make this list, but they were a power duo in their time. In fact, it wasn't until their first break up that things started to dwindle for them both. Yes, Rusev and Lana would see their story end more than once in WWE, only to reunite, initially. It was Bobby Lashley of all people who would prove to be too much for the lovebirds, as Lana began an affair with Lashley, and was quite ostentatious in doing so. That would mark the end of Rusev's time in WWE, although the two have seemingly been reunited in AEW recently, albeit under different names.
7 Edge And Vickie Guererro
Quite possibly the most unlikely couple to make this list, in the sense that the idea that they ever came together is still quite confounding. But Edge, being the "ultimate opportunist," was eventually exposed as just using Vickie due to her position of authority on SmackDown. Somewhat surprisingly, Edge and Vickie's on-again-off-again romance spanned several years in WWE, with an abundance of twists and turns along the way.

In the end, it would be infidelity on both of their parts that would tear them apart forever. Edge would be exposed by Triple H as having an affair with their "wedding planner," Alicia Fox, and Vickie would be caught two-timing with The Big Show.
6 Triple H And Chyna
Although up to this point, there have been some real-life couples on this list, Triple and Chyna's break-up was as real as it gets. While onscreen, the couple just sort of stopped appearing on camera together, there was a love triangle brewing behind the scenes that would have monumental ramifications. A storyline would see Triple H working with Stephanie McMahon, and sparks would apparently fly. It depends on who you believe, but there has been speculation that Hunter was still with Chyna after he had begun a relationship with Stephanie. What we do know is that Chyna was out of the company completely not long after.
5 Lita And Edge
Probably the most illicit and scandalous couple on this list, Edge and Lita's relationship was born out of infidelity at the expense of Matt Hardy. In wrestling, this would translate to the two having tremendous crowd heat, and it would subsequently skyrocket Edge to the top of the card. Surprisingly, Edge and Lita's relationship wouldn't end acrimoniously, but rather quietly. Lita would retire in late 2007, and leave the company, never to return as a full-time performer. Later, they would go their separate ways, with Edge eventually marrying Beth Phoenix, and Lita being linked to CM Punk at one point.
4 John Cena And Nikki Bella
The relationship between John Cena and Nikki Bella was great for reality television, but was ultimately not strong enough to last. Rumor has it, that the love story between John and Nikki robbed us all of an Undertaker/John Cena match at WrestleMania 33 in favor of an opportunity for John to propose to Nikki in the ring during the show. Nikki would accept, but it wouldn't be long until the two had split. It all boiled down to Nikki's desire to start a family and have children, but John being strongly opposed to that. Both have since gone on to get married to other people, but are still supportive of one another.
3 Eddie Guerrero And Chyna
Before there was Dom and Rhea, there was Eddie Guerrero and Chyna. Initially, it didn't seem that Chyna was interested in Eddie, but he persisted, and Chyna would eventually succumb to his "Latino Heat." The two had an entertaining romance, and shared great chemistry, despite being polar opposites. In the end, it would be the same Latino Heat that had won Chyna's affections, that would ruin everything. Eddie would be caught red-handed, fooling around on his mamacita, and she just couldn't bring herself to trust or forgive him.
2 Triple H And Stephanie McMahon
It's one of the most enduring love stories in WWE history, and among the most impactful. In fact, it's unlikely that Triple H would be in an executive position if he had not married into the McMahon family. That's not to say that's what motivated Hunter, as it seems that these two came together organically, if not controversially.

Ironically, it would be Stephanie's departure from WWE that would see the on-air couple of herself and Triple H come to an end. They remain married to this day in real-life, and have three daughters together. It's unlikely we will ever see a power couple the level of Triple H and Stephanie in WWE again.
1 Randy Savage And Miss Elizabeth
It was one of the first love stories in WWE, and many still consider it one of the best. Randy Savage and Elizabeth would have as close to a storybook romance as wrestling could produce. The two would have their ups and downs both on and off camera, but would eventually wed at SummerSlam in 1991. The reception would be crashed by Jake Roberts and The Undertaker, but the problems were apparently more legitimate than a wrestling angle. Randy and Liz divorced, but continued to work together in WCW, a testament to their professionalism. Sadly, both have passed in the last several years, but they will always be remembered as WWE's most beloved couple.
