As we approach the third anniversary of WWE announcing it had signed Gable Steveson to a contract, the Olympic gold medallist might have finally begun his run on TV. Steveson appeared on NXT this week, getting involved in the Raw Underground segment between Eddie Thorpe and Damon Kemp, the latter of whom is the athlete's real-life brother.
Don't Touch Steveson's Medal
Even though Steveson and Kemp are brothers, they were effectively stood across from each other during the former's appearance on NXT this week. The Olympian agreed to train Thorpe for the match last week, and clearly he did a pretty good job as Kemp was defeated. There was a brief moment where Steveson and Kemp looked like they were about to clash, but that didn't happen.

Steveson walked Thorpe to the ring for his win and looked like he would simply watch the wrestler he trained pick up a win. It wasn't until a trainer tried to touch Steveson's medal that the pro wrestler was able to demonstrate his only training has been going well. So well that we might finally see him on WWE TV more regularly and perhaps even compete in a match soon.
Suplex Everyone
Steveson started hitting really impressive suplexes on anyone within touching distance, suplexing four people before Thorpe returned to the ring to celebrate with his trainer. Looking like he was having the time of his life, it wasn't confirmed whether this is the start of a run in NXT for Steveson or not. It seems odd to introduce him and have him do this only for the medalist to immediately disappear again, though.
Steveson was signed to a WWE deal shortly after SummerSlam 2021 and then drafted to Raw shortly after that. Nothing much has been said about his continued absence, but it's assumed the Olympian hasn't taken to pro wrestling quite as quickly as people hoped, repeatedly being compared to Kurt Angle who is largely painted as the quickest person to adapt to professional wrestling in WWE history.
