Joanna and Chip Gaines created a storybook cottage kitchen during an episode of "Fixer Upper: Welcome Home." In Season 1, Episode 7, "From Beach to Woodsy Cottage," the Gaines "peel back the layers" of a 1930s home, bringing the kitchen back to its roots. On the Magnolia blog, Joanna explained that she designed this cottage kitchen remodel for Kim, a Magnolia Network employee who moved to Texas from California.
Kim bought the 1930s cottage with tons of charm, but it had been poorly remodeled. Chip and Jo took on the kitchen, giving it a farmhouse, cottage style. Joanna told the Magnolia blog, "Now Kim's cottage is filled with light, color, and a lot of natural textures that make her home feel fresh and updated while still capturing the nostalgia and charm of the original house." House Beautiful ranked this episode toward the bottom of the "Fixer Upper: Welcome Home" Season 1, but we loved it!
The Magnolia blog outlines how the Gaines moved the kitchen to the home's original location, put tongue-and-groove panels on the walls, and shiplap on the ceiling. They painted the kitchen cabinets a rich green and installed luxurious Carrara marble countertops. The natural light is beautiful, and Chip and Jo finished the look with brass hardware and cottage-style lights. You can download Joanna's sourcebook for this dreamy kitchen remodel here. We don't know too many details about the "Fixer Upper: Welcome Home" Season 2 release, but we can't wait to see more stunning kitchens.
