The Viper has been a consistent and very effective performer throughout the years at the Survivor Series event, with this being one of the PPVs he has thrived at the most. Randy Orton made his first appearance at the show in 2003 and since that point, he has been heavily involved at the event.

Whether it's traditional Survivor Series matches or WWE Title bouts, Orton has been involved in some fantastic encounters at the show. So, before he goes one on one with Roman Reigns, let's take a look back at all of his previous matches at Survivor Series over the years.
14 Randy Orton vs Big Show (2013)
Having so many matches at Survivor Series, it is expected that one of them is going to be a dud and for Randy Orton, that was this. Everything about this match fell flat and was incredibly forgettable.
The slow, methodical pace didn't work and the live crowd chanting boring during a PPV main event is never a good sign. While they're two veterans, it just didn't connect or create a good match at all, with this being one of the worst Survivor Series main events of all time.
13 Team DX vs Team Rated-RKO (2006)
There's no doubt that this match was jam-packed in terms of star power, with both teams having a lot of great talent. However, that didn't translate into a good match overall.
The problem with this one was how dominant Team DX was. They absolutely ran through everyone in their path and not a single one of them was eliminated, which didn't really allow for much storytelling.
12 Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett (2010)
This was a WWE Championship match that was more about the special guest referee of John Cena than anything else. He had to leave WWE if Randy Orton won the match and that led to some good drama throughout.
The actual in-ring competition itself was very bland and forgettable. It was an average back and forth match with a couple of near falls, but it wasn't anything special.
11 Team Raw vs Team SmackDown (2017)
This one was an incredibly disappointing match simply due to the ridiculous amount of talent that was involved. The match had a great blend of legends and current stars, but for whatever reason, it just didn't connect at all.

Some of the eliminations came far too quickly and the match wasn't really allowed to breathe. Then the focus was put too much on Shane McMahon and Triple H with the strange finish as The Game attacking Kurt Angle before beating Shane didn't work.
10 Team Orton vs Team Triple H (2004)
This match was all about the split and fallout from Evolution, with Randy Orton trying to work as a babyface here. Gene Snitsky was the dominant heel throughout this one, which didn't fully translate to a lot of excitement as some parts of this match were quite dull.
Orton's team was a man down for long parts until Maven made his presence known, which did lead to quite a fun moment. However, overall this match was lacking in real excitement.
9 Team Raw vs Team SmackDown (2005)
WWE often does Team Raw vs Team SmackDown, but this year it really felt important and WWE did a good job of making it seem like they hated each other. However, that included the commentators who spent most of this match bickering and arguing, which was very annoying.
Randy Orton ended up being the sole survivor, picking up the victory after a JBL distraction. Things were a little chaotic at points, but when HBK was the last man fighting the odds, this one picked up the pace.
8 Team Orton vs Team Batista (2008)
This was a solid elimination match and is the point in the list where Randy Orton's Survivor Series matches really hit good quality. Both teams were loaded with talent and everyone performed to their best.

Batista really had to fight the odds in this one with the heel team dominating, and in the end, Orton and Cody Rhodes secured the victory, with an RKO from out of nowhere.
7 Team Foley vs Team Ziggler (2012)
When Survivor Series elimination matches are done well, they can be really great and that was the case here. The match was well-paced, had unique and different eliminations throughout, and saw a world-class performance from Dolph Ziggler.
Orton was the final man left for Team Foley and it led to a really exciting finish against Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. They worked together for some great offense that really brought the crowd in to make the finish as strong as possible.
6 Team Orton vs Team Barrett (2011)
This was another really good elimination bout with Randy Orton being the big babyface star here. He's not always convincing in that role, but he thrived in this match, taking the fight to the heels and ending up in a three on one situation.
In the end, the numbers game caught up with Orton as Wade Barrett got the victory, but it was a great fight from Orton that the fans really bought into.
5 Team Orton vs Team Kingston (2009)
Sometimes Survivor Series matches feel forced, but the rivalry between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton was red hot at this point and therefore this one felt right. Kofi was everywhere in this one and when he got the victory the roof came off with a massive pop.
The eliminations were done well, but when it got to the end with just CM Punk and Randy Orton taking on Kofi, things really picked up. Kofi did a great job fighting the odds and it led to an amazing finish.
4 Team Bischoff vs Team Stone Cold (2003)
This was Randy Orton's first-ever Survivor Series appearance, and what a way to make his mark by being the sole survivor. It was a brilliant match with a lot of great stars as Team Bischoff battled and got HBK all alone.

Busted open, this was HBK at his very best. He had to go over the top and fight against the odds until Batista ran interference to help Orton win in what was one of the best finishing runs to a Survivor Series match ever.
3 Team Raw vs Team SmackDown vs Team NXT (2019)
Adding NXT to Survivor Series was something that fans loved to see and added a totally different dynamic to the show. While there were a lot of people involved in this one, that didn't stop the match from being huge amounts of fun.
Seeing all the different dream match potentials happen for just a little while was amazing and the live crowd bought into everything. Keith Lee had a star-making performance here and overall, it was an incredible elimination match.
2 Randy Orton vs Shawn Michaels (2007)
Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels put together an amazing WWE Championship match here with HBK not being allowed to use Sweet Chin Music as part of the stipulation.
This forced them to be creative and seeing Michaels try to work different finishers was really good as they pieced together a strong story. Eventually, he thought about hitting it but pulled away, allowing Orton to nail the RKO, making a great finish.
1 Team Raw vs Team SmackDown (2016)
This is one of the greatest Survivor Series matches of all time. The brand rivalry felt important here and with this one lasting almost an hour, they had plenty of time to tell an amazing story.
The match had everything from great storytelling with mini rivalries such as Braun Strowman destroying James Ellsworth to fun nostalgic beats with The Shield reunion. In the end, Orton and Wyatt survived, which built their storyline and led to an incredible finish as they worked together effectively.
