It wasn't the best encounter between the pair but it was another strong match. The Rated-R Superstar executed his patented Spear on Undertaker with the Phenom barely kicking out. The two fought outside with the Deadman getting the better of Edge by winning the match by count-out. Furthermore, Vickie abused her power once more by stating that the title could only change hands by way of pinfall or submission with the title still vacant.
5 Backlash 2008
Edge invoked his rematch clause at Backlash 2008 after dropping the World Heavyweight Championship to The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIV in a magnificent main event. Edge continued to assert his dominance in this match by controlling the early portions of the championship bout.
Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder even tried to interfere on Edge's behalf to no avail, as Undertaker swatted them aside with ease. He then applied the debilitating Hell's Gate submission hold on Edge in a highly competitive match. The Phenom wanted to inflict pain and refused to break the hold with the Rated-R Superstar bleeding from the mouth and eventually being carried out on a stretcher.
