Everyone is poking fun at AEW these days. After a pay-per-view botch that the wrestling promotion is still trying to live down, not only are fans taking shots at AEW and the Barbed Wire Death Match ring "explosion" but the former WWE Champion is as well.
Following AEW Revolution PPV, and this past Monday on Raw, McIntyre cut a promo and throw some subtle shade at All Elite Wrestling. Before Lashley and Sheamus were set to do battle in the show's main event, the Scottish Warrior warned MVP that making guarantees was a bad habit to get into.
The two-time champion said, “That’s such a dangerous thing to do in this industry, because if you make a guarantee and don’t deliver, fans get upset and sparks fly”.
McIntyre didn't mention the name AEW or refer directly to the pay-per-view, but it's easy to make the connection and it can't be a coincidence. AEW has been doing damage control since the event. The big finale that was admitted supposed to go very differently, was more like a Gillberg entrance and Tony Khan, along with World Champion Kenny Omega who designed the effect are easy targets.
McIntyre had quite the night on the microphone. He cut a couple of promos, went on Raw Talk and accidentally dropped an F-bomb during the interview and did another interview with WWE backstage of an exclusive video on YouTube. I guess, when you're doing that many interviews, you need fresh content and things to say.
Is It Time To Let It Go?
For some fans, the shots at AEW are getting old. For others, it's still endless fun to take aim at a company that made such a glaring mistake in one of their bigger moments. One could argue that if it was WWE who had made the production error, fans would never let them hear the end of it and AEW talent would be all over WWE.
