Cody Rhodes had the fortunes of teaming up with Randy Orton on week's episode of WWE Raw.
This week's episode in Knoxville, Tennessee celebrated Orton's milestone 20-year anniversary with the WWE. In the main event, Rhodes teamed up with Riddle, Ezekiel and Orton — his former "Legacy" faction leader — vs. The Usos, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins. Orton's team emerged victorious after The Viper delivered his signature RKO finisher on all four opponents.
Raw marked the first WWE match involving both Orton and Rhodes in eight years, according to ProFightDB. It was also the first time these two superstars teamed up since the Nov. 22, 2011 SmackDown taping, per ProFightDB. In short, a Rhodes-Orton reunion was a long time coming.
After this week's Raw, Rhodes took to Instagram and shared a kind message towards the future Hall of Famer and former Legacy ally:

Orton, Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. (no long wrestling) are all multi-generation superstars. They were one of the top WWE stables in the late 2000s and in the early stages of 2010.
Orton and DiBiase Jr. are both third-generation wrestlers, and Rhodes is a second-generation superstar. During the trio's run together, Orton won three WWE Championships, while Rhodes and DiBiase Jr. won two World Tag Team Titles. On top of that, The American Nightmare held the Intercontinental Championship on one occasion.
What's Next For Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton?
Orton and Riddle (the Raw Tag Team Champions) will face The Usos in a tag team titles unification match at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view on May 8 in Providence, Rhode Island. As for Rhodes, he and Rollins will go one-on-one yet again in a WrestleMania 38 rematch.
It would certainly be exciting to see Rhodes and Orton work a program together down the road. But both are working as babyfaces on Raw right now, and Orton will have to split from Riddle before engaging in a feud or partnership with his former Legacy ally. Of course, WWE has all the time in the world to run another Orton-Rhode program.
