Cameron Grimes Reportedly Set For WWE Main Roster Debut

Cameron Grimes talking Cropped

Per discussions about the latest episode of NXT, Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio noted that longtime NXT regular Cameron Grimes is finally set to make the transition from developmental to main roster talent. According to Meltzer, his sources had told him that Grimes was expected to finish up with NXT following his current feud with Joe Gacy. Although Meltzer stated he doesn't have a time frame for Grimes' call up, Gacy's win over Grimes on this week's edition of NXT could mean that the next time fans see him will be on RAW or SmackDown!

Formerly known as Trevor Lee in IMPACT and on the independents, Grimes joined NXT in 2019, making his on-screen debut in that year's Breakout Tournament. During his time in NXT, Grimes won both the Million Dollar Championship and the NXT North American Championship, being a consistent presence on the brand's television show.

Since Triple H took the reins of WWE creative just before this year's SummerSlam, he has been quick to redesign the WWE main roster in his image. The last couple of years of Vince McMahon's time in charge saw the unexpected and controversial releases of many superstars, several of whom were clearly favorites of Triple H during his NXT days. In his months at the top, Triple H has brought multiple of these released wrestlers back into the fold, featuring them in prominent roles on the main roster.

Returns and debuts are a near-guaranteed pop for live crowds, but when they come thick and fast, do they start to lose their luster? Fans have been debating the issue as of late, but this unprecedented amount of returns is a symptom of the transitional growing pains for the Triple H regime. Reshaping the main roster to fit his vision, and retaining the talent he saw as the future of the company, it is only a matter of time until things start to level out and find a steady path.
