Britt Baker has admitted she was a little freaked out by the way she bled during the recent Unsanctioned Lights Out Match against Thunder Rosa.

The AEW star was part of what's considered to be one of the best women's matches in wrestling history. The St. Patrick's Day Slam event is the Wrestling Observer's joint-highest rated women's match to ever take place on American soil and has earned rave reviews from fans.

The match was the first of its kind to headline AEW Dynamite and got a score of 4.7 from Dave Meltzer. Baker and Thunder went the extra mile to give fans a memorable match, with the former leaving lots of blood out there.

Speaking to Renee Pacquette on the former WWE announcer's Oral Sessions podcast, she claimed to be a bit taken aback as no one had warned her over the effects of blood getting into one's eyes.

“As soon as that blood started dripping I’m like, ‘Keep flowing, man.’ Paul Turner, the ref, was like, ‘You’re bleeding, you have great color," she recalled. "Jerry is in the back saying, 'Pump it'.

“I knew I was bleeding a lot because I saw it was dripping on the mat and it was in my eyes. I’ve bled before when I broke my nose, but when the blood runs into your eyes, no-one warned me about that. It’s like a red fog or a red filter and you can’t see anything. At one point in the match, I say to Paul I can’t see. I ask Reba, ‘Give me your towel,’ and she says ‘I don’t have it here.’ She gives me her jacket, and I wipe my bloody eyes off in her jacket. That did freak me out for a second.”

A Guardian Angel

Britt has also praised the referee, who she says is her angel as he helps prep her for matches by signing to her in an effort to alleviate her anxiety.

The female superstar revealed Turner talks to her throughout her matches to make sure all is well, although he probably asked her whether she was okay a little too much during her match with Rosa.

"Finally, I looked at him and said, ‘Am I dying or am I OK?’ He was like ‘You’re great, you’re great'," she said. "He was asking me way too many times if I’m OK."
