Bret "The Hitman" Hart is one of the greatest of all time to lace up a pair of boots. The Hitman transitioned from a fine tag team competitor into a certified main eventer. Hart has headlined countless pay-per-views, and he is a former five-time WWE Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and a two-time WWE Hall of Famer.

Despite all of the great matches that Hart has had throughout his WWE and WCW career, he has had some absolute stinkers. Some of the wrestlers that Hart failed to have a great match with were unquestionably good workers, whereas others weren't as good.

Bret v Doink SummerSlam 1993

Bret Hart was prepared to square off with Jerry "The King" Lawler at SummerSlam 1993 but Lawler found a way to get himself out of the match. He feigned an injury and he chose Doink The Clown to replace him.

The match was extremely underwhelming but The Hitman dominated with ease. Hart was closing in on the win with his trademark Sharpshooter on Doink but Lawler intervened by nailing Hart in the back of his head with a vicious shot with his crutch.

Bret v Sting Halloween Havoc 1998

At Halloween Havoc 1998, Bret Hart defended the WCW United States Championship against Sting in a dream match. Hart's time in WCW was confusing as there were many illogical booking decisions.

Nevertheless, it was the Sharpshooter going toe-to-toe with the Scorpion Deathlock which is virtually the same submission hold. Sting represented the nWo Wolfpac but sadly this dream match was bitterly disappointing. The Hitman hit Sting several times with the baseball bat when the referee was down but he retained his title with his patented Sharpshooter.

8 The Hart Family Vs. Shawn Michaels & His Knights - Survivor Series 1993 (Rating: 4.85)

Hart Family

Bret Hart teamed up with his brothers Owen, Keith, and Bruce in a traditional four-on-four Survivor Series elimination match at the 1993 Survivor Series. They faced off with Shawn Michaels and his team of knights which were Greg Valentine, Barry Horrowitz, and Jeff Gaylord in disguise.

This was the longest match on the card clocking in at three seconds shy of 31 minutes. It was almost a clean sweep but Owen was eliminated by Shawn Michaels.

6 Bret Hart Vs. Isaac Yankem - SummerSlam 1995 (Rating: 4.33)

Bret v Yankem SummerSlam 1995

Bret Hart collided with Isaac Yankem at SummerSlam 1995, and Yankem was doing Jerry "The King" Lawler's dirty work. Glenn Jacobs in his Isaac Yankem character still hadn't found his groove quite yet but there was evidence from this match that there was quite a lot of work ahead of him.

Once again it was the sheer brilliance from Hart who made Yankem look like a million bucks by selling the offense that Yankem had. The match went on a little long at 16 minutes but Bret got the victory albeit by disqualification.

5 Bret Hart Vs. Yokozuna - WrestleMania X (Rating: 4.12)

Yokozuna v Bret Hart WrestleMania 10

For the second consecutive year, Bret Hart and Yokozuna engaged in battle with the WWE Championship on the line to close out WrestleMania. However, they were both on a level playing field at WrestleMania Xas they both had a previous match on the show. Bret lost to his brother Owen in the opener, and Yokozuna retained the WWE Title against Lex Luger.

Their main event had a caveat with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper as the special guest referee. Furthermore, Bret and Yokozuna definitely made amends for their lackluster WrestleMania IX encounter but it was still not an epic. Ultimately, The Hitman got his revenge by reclaiming the WWE Championship.

4 Battle Royal - WrestleMania IV (Rating: 4.06)

Battle Royal WrestleMania 4

Hart and Bad News Brown formed a cohesive unit with Hart displaying sportsmanship by opting to share the trophy with Brown. Brown took exception to that and he blindsided The Hitman by hitting him with the Ghetto Blaster and he threw him over the top rope to win. Nonetheless, Bret got the last laugh as he returned to the ring and assaulted Brown with the trophy, destroying it in the process.

3 Bret Hart & Hulk Hogan Vs. Randy Savage & Roddy Piper - The Great American Bash 1998 (Rating: 4.00)

Bash 1998

There was star power aplenty in the tag team match between nWo Hollywood's WCW Champion Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart when they collided with "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper at The Great American Bash 1998.

If Hogan and Hart won, Piper and Savage would have to face each other in a one-on-one match. Hogan expertly worked on Savage's knee throughout the bout and it was an average match for their standards. The Hitman picked up the win for his team with the Sharpshooter with Savage writhing in agony.

2 nWo Hollywood Vs. Team WCW Vs. nWo Wolfpac - Fall Brawl 1998 (Rating: 2.86)

Fall Brawl 1998

The sixth edition of Fall Brawl 1998 saw the WarGames match headlined the show. Bret Hart represented nWo Hollywood alongside Hulk Hogan and Stevie Ray. They faced off with Team WCW's Diamond Dallas Page, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, and The Warrior. Kevin Nash, Sting, and Lex Luger represented nWo Wolfpac to complete the stellar lineup.

There were big names in the match but the whole stipulation made little sense with the winner earning a WCW Championship title shot. The match was a mess but DDP earned the win for his team with a botched Diamond Cutter.

1 Bret Hart Vs. Mr. McMahon - WrestleMania XXVI (Rating: 2.67)

Bret v Vince WrestleMania 26

13 years in the making, Bret Hart finally got his hands on Mr. McMahon at WrestleMania XXVI in a No Holds Barred match. The Chairman of The Board thought that he had the upper hand on Bret once more by walking down to ringside with the entire Hart Family.

However, the joke was on McMahon as The Harts inevitably sided with Bret and they gave McMahon the beating of his life. The Hitman was way past his prime, and this match went on longer than it needed to. Ultimately, Bret forced Vince to submit to the Sharpshooter, the move which Shawn Michaels locked Hart in before he departed WWE for WCW.
