Pruitt led national junior college pitchers with a 0.81 ERA in 2011, when he helped Navarro (Texas) win the Junior College World Series. His success has continued at Houston, where as a senior this spring he became the program's first 10-game winner since No. 4 overall pick Brad Lincoln in 2006. Slightly built at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, Pruitt has uncanny command of a spike curveball that he'll throw in any count. His fastball usually operates at 86-87 mph and peaks at 90. He has good feel for a changeup and pounds the strike zone.
