Throughout AEW's short existence, founder Tony Khan has been known for his special announcements. Originally, he would appear once in a blue moon on AEW television to reveal some exciting news in what was dubbed a major announcement.

Recently though, his special announcements have become increasingly more regular, and to some, they are not all that special anymore.
A portion of fans have grown tired of his regular announcements, and have questioned whether he should be making them so often. Others don't mind Khan's regular revelations though, and actually enjoy how often he gets to break some exciting news.
With the fan base divided on the topic, it poses a question, are Tony's constant announcements a bad thing for AEW?
They're Losing Their Importance
One issue some fans see with Khan's constant announcements is that with each one, they're becoming less and less important. Sure, there are still some huge reveals that he saves for such an occasion, such as the purchase of Ring of Honor, but there are instances when his huge announcements are simply just the signing of a new talent, which many feels don't need to be formally shared.
As Tony's announcements become more and more frequent, the reveal tends to have less of an impact on audiences. There's definitely such a thing as too much of a good thing, and that is how a lot of fans are beginning to view the common reveals from Tony.
There are certain reveals that don't necessarily need to be hyped up beforehand, all that allows is for fans to talk themselves into the craziest of possibilities, leaving the eventual announcement to fall short of their now loft expectations.
Wrestling Is Supposed To Be Filled With Fun Surprises
As previously mentioned, Khan's constant need to announce any bit of exciting news he has can lead to a lot of fans being disappointed. Wrestling fans want to be surprised. There is nothing more enjoyable than a shock debut, or a plot-twisting revelation, but with Tony preferring to announce almost all of his major news beforehand, it can take away that edge that many enjoy from the product.
That's not to say it's his fault though, he tried to give fans the surprise debut in the form of Sting at Winter is Coming 2020, but TNT executives weren't happy that he didn't announce it beforehand in an effort to get as high a rating as possible.
So, on that note, it leaves him in a difficult situation and is likely why he now feels it's necessary to formally make his major announcements on television.
Some Fans Believe It's Ego Driven
The biggest AEW detractors claim Khan's constant major announcements are down to feeding his own ego, but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, he very rarely actually appears onscreen to break the news himself. Instead, he leaves the announcements to Tony Schiavone.
If he was using these opportunities to feed his own ego, it would make much more sense for him to appear on television to break the news himself. Sure, he has done that in the past, such as when he revealed he had bought Ring of Honor, but more often than not, he remains hidden away from the cameras.

Now, it's hard to call Khan's constant announcements a bad thing for AEW. They're always fun, and it just means he is regularly giving fans exciting new developments, which is great for a fan base long starved of these sorts of things. One thing is for certain though, maybe he needs to leave more time between each one.
