AJ Styles spent some time with Ariel Helwani and covered a number of subjects during that sit-down interview. Among the topics covered was where Styles sees himself in WWE right now and his future as someone who wants to work with upcoming talent. Saying he's got a passion for giving back to the next generation of WWE stars, it's no wonder he was paired with the very green Omos. Omos has the look and feel of a star, but he lacks a ton of in-ring experience, something Styles has in spades.

Helwani asked if Styles was excited to work with Omos and Styles responded that it was fun to get to work with someone in a tag scenario that he believes is bigger than Andre the Giant. Saying Omos is a freak, Styles noted, "‘here is an opportunity for me to help this young monster develop and be someone unbelievable one day.'" It was Styles' job to help the big man get used to what it was going to be like as a star and get him the on-the-job experience these newcomers need to really grow. Unfortunately, Styles said he was essentially still working a singles style because he spent most of the time in the ring when it should have been Omos getting the experience.

When Helwani asked if he was fine with how and when the tag team ended, Styles said it was time to move on. He explained, "It was exciting at first when we were tag champs, but then there was a lot of times where we were spinning our wheels based on what we were given and the parameters in which we could do it. It did make it difficult." He also said it was time for Omos to go out on his own. "He needs to be able to learn to do it himself and there is only so much you can explain to someone."

Omos Needs More Development

While Styles didn't say Omos was a poor performer, he did hint that the only way for guys to pick up this business is to do it. He noted, "Until you’re doing it yourself, and you’re learning as you go, it’s guys like Kurt Angle who are able to learn so quickly because they were in the ring with so many other great athletes that they develop so quickly."

This is not to suggest Omos is anywhere near the level of Kurt Angle, but Styles does have a point. There's only so much he can do with Omos if Styles is the one in the ring all the time when the two work together.
