Piper Niven didn’t immediately throw herself into the world of professional wrestling, as at first she hid her love of the business. In an interview with the BBC, it was revealed that it wasn’t until an older nephew began watching that she allowed herself to be opened up to it more.
She first dipped her toes in a training school, noting, “"I got beat up, totally beat up. I remember lying in bed the next day, being so sore and in absolute agony, but I just loved it, I had to go back.” She began on the independent scene in the UK.

Piper Niven found a lot of success under her previous moniker of “Viper”, becoming the inaugural ICW Women’s Champion (which she would win by beating two women now known in WWE as Nikki Cross and Alba Fyre).
Niven would also win titles in the likes of Stardom. It was this dominance of the independent scene and promotions like ICW and Stardom that would ultimately catch WWE’s eye.

This did happen, but it was rushed and took place within a couple of months as Marie was soon released. Fans did get behind the Doudrop act a little bit despite it having not much to go on. After a while though, Doudrop turned heel, and following a loss to Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble, she fell down the card.

In an interview with Inside The Ropes (H/T Fightful), Niven noted how she had discussions with Triple H about changing her name - something he was open to.
“He was receptive to all ideas. I’m very much aware that there is probably like lots of other people that are looking for changes and such, but I’m willing to be patient and make sure that we’re being deliberate and making sure we know the direction [of the character] and where we want to go.”
Since this name change, Niven has been presented more dominantly and also became one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions in an entertaining act with Chelsea Green, which is arguably the best thing she has done on the main roster so far.
