AEW broke ground in a number of ways during its first year in the industry. One of those ways was by signing Nyla Rose to a full-time contract. Rose was the first openly transgender wrestler to be signed by a major American wrestling promotion when she became All Elite in 2019. She then made even more history the following year by becoming the first transgender wrestler to win a title in a major American promotion.
Fan Removed For Offensive Sign
Despite the barriers Rose has and continues to break down in wrestling, she likely has to deal with negative comments and even abuse from people who claim to be fans. That manifested for the world to see on Dynamite this week. One of those supposed fans decided to bring a sign misgendering Rose and flaunted it during her match.

You can see the sign, and Rose's perfect reaction to it, in the tweet below. The tweet actually comes from Rose's wife who labeled the wrestler “the strongest person I know” for her reaction. That tweet and a few others from fans presumably sat near the fan with the sign resulted in them being swiftly remvoed by Atlas Security's Sam.
Rose Is Out Of The Title Tournament
Rose proceeded to wrestle a pretty important match against Ruby Soho. The match was the first of the two semifinals in the tournament to crown AEW's first-ever TBS Champion. Rose lost the match which means Soho will move forward to face either Thunder Rosa or Jade Cargill in the final.
Wrestling fandom and social media can both be pretty toxic places, so when the two of them come together as they did in this situation, it can show an ugly side of the business that really needs to be stamped out. On the bright side, Rose's wife continued to share positive messages from fans and relayed at the end of the night that the love for how the situation was handled far outweighed the hate.
