No Way Jose's gimmick is very similar to a certain WWE Superstar who came before him, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by that former star.
There was a lot of movement between all three of WWE's rosters in the weeks that immediately followed WrestleMania 34. Raw Superstars went to SmackDown Live, some went the other way, old faces returned, and, of course, a number of men and women were called up from NXT. Drew McIntyre has already made quite an impression on Monday nights, and The IIconic Duo are doing great work on the blue brand.
There were so many NXT call-ups following on from WrestleMania in fact, that not everyone has had much of a look-in. Sanity was supposedly called up to SmackDown Live, however, there has been no sign of the former NXT Tag Team Champions at all aside from the odd vignette. On the Raw side of things, No Way Jose has made a few appearances, but his purpose is yet to be fully explained.

As a matter of fact, as of right now, Jose simply seems to be a re-hash of an old WWE Superstar. The Dominican wrestler dances his way to the ring with a conga line in tow, all to the beat of some pretty catchy music. No prizes for guessing who he is emulating, as it is of course Adam Rose. Rose would dance to the ring with his Rosebuds, and there are some fans who are even referring to Jose's conga line as the new star's very own Rosebuds.
The similarities between Jose and Rose have not gone unnoticed by the latter either. While talking to Chris Van Vliet recently, the former WWE Superstar broached the subject. "It is very similar, I’ll say that. Very similar. But hopefully, he does better with it than I did because it’s a great thing," Rose said. Rose was released by WWE in 2016 but clearly, he has not been forgotten.
No Way Jose is clearly a very talented Superstar but WWE is running the risk of turning him into nothing more than a gimmick. There was a period during his long NXT run where he demonstrated that he has more of a vicious side, and with an opponent like Baron Corbin, who he is currently battling with on Raw, now might be the perfect time to demonstrate that, before it's too late.
