It is crucially important for any professional wrestler to create an engaging name for themselves as that is ultimately what people will remember about them. It's something that can help make a wrestler memorable for life, and that is why people spend a long time creating different ideas.

The Impact Wrestling roster has plenty of great names that sound like true wrestlers and will instantly make fans think of them. But, on the flip side, there are also some truly awful ones as well. Whether this is because they don't sound menacing enough or there isn't much creativity placed into them, some of the names aren't as strong as others.
9 Angels
Angels is someone that a lot of fans might remember as Alan Angels due to his time in AEW as part of The Dark Order, but since joining Impact Wrestling he dropped his first name. Having just Angels isn't a strong wrestling name and it is something that doesn't quite sound as menacing as most would expect.
Considering he is part of the group Violent By Design it makes his name even more confusing overall. It's also a hard one to quickly chant which can also be problematic for if fans want to invest in him.
8 Champagne Singh
Champagne Singh is similar to Angels in the sense that it just doesn't sound like a great wrestling name. It's the type of name that will have fans raising questions rather than just finding it cool and memorable which should ultimately be the goal for anyone.

It is also quite a complex one with Champagne not being something that audiences are ever going to think about when it comes to professional wrestling, which is why this one doesn't really work.
7 Kon
Kon is one of the former WWE Superstars on the Impact Wrestling roster and he opted to tap into his former name when it came to what he was going to call himself in the company. He was previously known as Konnor, so this is a nod to that so people are aware of him, but it doesn't work.
The name is too short and easy to forget and it isn't something that people are going to remember as much as others. It's a poor name and that's a shame because he is putting on great work inside the ring.
6 Courtney Rush
Courtney Rush is a talented worker and someone that has shown great potential inside the ring, but her name is something that feels very generic and almost fitting of an 80s rock band. Her previous gimmick and name of Rosemary was far more memorable and the change hasn't helped her.
While wrestlers are always looking to do something different, the name change hasn't connected as well and doesn't allow Rush to feel as unique as she previously had done.
5 Dirty Dango
Dirty Dango is another ex-WWE Superstar who has tapped into his former name to create something fresh. However, much like many people who opt to do this, it isn't the greatest name overall and it can provide a wide range of connotations for fans to work with as to what the Dirty would stand for.

It also means that people don't forget about his past and instantly expect certain things from him when he gets to the ring about his old gimmick, which isn't always a positive.
4 Deaner
Single names in wrestling are hard to make work because the majority of the time it sounds like people are just referring to a normal person, a friend, or a family member. That is the problem that Deaner runs into, because it just doesn't make people think big star.
Other names in Impact such as Chris Bey or Zicky Dice sound like genuine stars, and that is purely from a name perspective and that is an area where Deaner lacks.
3 Jack Price
Jack Price is a prospect in Impact Wrestling that has showcased the potential to become a bigger name down the line. Unfortunately, he does have a very generic name that feels like it could have just been pulled out of a hat and quickly created for a video game.
It's hard to get chants for this one which is a big problem when it comes to fan connection, but the name doesn't sound like one people will remember and that is something to be worked on.
2 Moose
Moose is one of the biggest names on the Impact Wrestling roster and a true main event talent, but his name doesn't match that at all. It's hard to envisage anyone called Moose ever thriving at the top end of another company and the reason for that is because the name is too silly.

It sounds like something a comedy wrestler would use who people shouldn't take seriously, which isn't ideal for a hard-hitting star who is capable of being the World Champion for the company.
1 Heath
Heath is one of the most well-known wrestlers on the roster due to his fantastic run in WWE, but he certainly has one of the worst names. Because he was previously known as Heath Slater and a lot of people knew him from that it is clear to see why he chose this name, but it simply doesn't sound good.
Working with just one name is never easy, and out of the two Slater would certainly have been more fitting for a professional wrestler. His current name makes him seem a lot more ordinary, and that should never be the goal for a wrestler.
