Survivor Series, together with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam, make up WWE’s “big four” premium live events. Survivor Series, like most WWE PPV events, has seen some of the most crude and controversial segments, spots and matches in WWE history.

While the earliest editions of Survivor Series provided a wholesome dose of family-friendly entertainment, the TV14 iterations of the November PPV featured content that was, at times, bizarre and disturbing.

Lita is one of the greatest female superstars to ever lace up a pair of boots inside the squared circle. It goes without saying that Lita didn’t deserve the kind of treatment she was given following her final match for WWE way back in 2006.

Lita defended her WWE Women’s Championship against Mickie James at Survivor Series 2006. Lita lost the match after James hit her with a rolling DDT. Lita cut a promo post-match before she got interrupted by Cryme Tyme, who sold her bra and underwear to the crowd for cash. That’s pretty disturbing, to say the least.

8 Heidenreich & Gene Snitsky Make It Weird (Survivor Series 2004)

Heidenreich and Snitsky are two of the most controversial characters to come out of the super wild Ruthless Aggression Era. Heidenreich was exclusive to SmackDown. Snitsky was a midcarder on RAW. The two psychopaths crossed paths at Survivor Series 2004 and fans could feel the tension in the air.

Both got uncomfortably close to each and after snarling in each other’s face for several seconds, Snitsky told Heidenreich he liked his poetry. The SmackDown star came up with an even bizarre compliment, saying he liked what Snitsky did to the babies.

7 The Undertaker Gets Buried Alive (Survivor Series 2003)

The birth of the Attitude Era led to the creation of several unique match types in WWE history. Hell in a Cell, Buried Alive, Inferno all gained traction during pro wrestling’s boom period. Speaking of Buried Alive, the gimmick match was featured heavily on Survivor Series 2003.

Vince McMahon took on The Undertaker in said match, which is mostly known for the shovel shot heard around the world. The Deadman busted the boss’s head with a brutal shovel to the head. Taker attempted to bury Vince but found himself six feet under – courtesy of his younger brother, Kane which led to the return of the Deadman at WrestleMania 20.

6 Hornswoggle Gets His Head Squeezed By the Great Khali (Survivor Series 2007)

WWE is known to feature insanely tall men (case in point: Omos) and the Great Khali perfectly fits the chairman’s archetype for giants. Khali was booked as an unstoppable monster during his initial years with the company.

The former World Heavyweight Champion took on Hornswoggle in a singles match at Survivor Series 2007. Given their massive size difference, the match was one-sided. Still, Khali decided to have some fun and applied his signature Vice Grip on ‘Vince’s illegitimate son.’

5 Drake Maverick Wets His Pants (Survivor Series 2018)

Drake Maverick had a solid showing as the on-screen GM of 205 Live before the higher-ups decided to share a laugh at his expense at Survivor Series 2018. Maverick accompanied AOP for their tag team match against The Bar, who had The Big Show in their corner at the November 18th premium live event.

Maverick went in for a cheap shot at Sheamus and Cesaro but was stopped by The Big Show in his tracks. Show grabbed Maverick by his neck for a chokeslam, only to witness the manager relieve himself on live TV.

4 Becky Lynch Gets Exposed (Survivor Series 2021)

Becky Lynch took on Charlotte Flair in a Champion versus Champion match at the 25th annual Survivor Series on November 22, 2021. The two had backstage heat going into the match, which got a pop for entirely different reasons whatsoever.

Lynch wore Scarlet Witch-inspired gear for the match. The former RAW Women’s Champion suffered multiple wardrobe malfunction during her match with Flair.

3 Steve Austin Gets Run Over (Survivor Series 1999)

WWE booked a triple threat dream match for the main event of Survivor Series 1999. It was Triple H versus The Rock versus Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWE Championship. The match never really took place as Austin was kayfabe removed during an injury angle earlier during the night.

The Rattlesnake was dealing with severe neck problems that had resulted following the botched piledriver at SummerSlam 1997. Austin was run down by a high-speed car and replaced by The Big Show at Survivor Series 1999. WWE were regularly committing murders during the 1990s!

2 José Lothario Suffers a Heart Attack (Survivor Series 1996)

José Lothario trained Shawn Michaels during the eighties and managed him during his initial run with the WWE Championship in the mid-nineties. Lothario accompanied Michaels for his title defense against Sycho Sid at Survivor Series 1996.

At one point during the match, Sid grabbed a ringside camera in an attempt to hit Michaels with it. Instead, he used the foreign object to lay out José who was standing on the apron. The commentary team noted José suffered a ‘heart attack’ as a result of Sid’s attack.

1 Steve Austin Sends Triple H’s Vehicle Crashing Down (Survivor Series 2000)

Steve Austin made his triumphant comeback to WWE in 2000. Austin was out of action for neck surgery. On WWE TV, the Rattlesnake was looking for the perpetrator who ran him down with a high-speeding car at Survivor Series 1999.

After Triple H revealed himself to be the mastermind on the November 6, 2000, episode of RAW, the two battled it out in a bloody match at Survivor Series 2000. The closing moments of the match saw Austin lift Triple H’s vehicle with a forklift and send it crashing to the ground. Another angle that ended in an apparent murder!
