Extreme Championship Wrestling came at a focal point in pop culture history, and thus it retains and supplements some of the most iconic aspects of the time. The frantic energy and wide array of styles on display helped the company move forward, and the fashion came along with it as well. In the same vein, however, it must all be seen as a capsule of the times and a representative look at style at the time.

After all this time, ECW is still seen as one of the most prolific and unprecedented pieces of inspirational wrestling to affect the generations afterward. With that said, there are some parts of it that can be left behind, and it includes some of the gaudy outfits that fit the aesthetic of the era. Additionally, there are some fits that just about any fashionista or fashion-forward fan would love to have in their wardrobe because style is important to the greater image of the entire brand.

10 Best - Rob Van Dam

When it comes to in-ring style there are very few that can come close to the flair that Rob Van Dam brings to the ring. His airbrushed singlets done by Joe Holland (who would go on to also make similar singlets for Ryback) have been a staple of his wardrobe and it maintains itself as one of the most iconic sets of wrestling gear ever known.

Not everyone can pull it off, but those who can would look great. It should also be noted that RVD's tiger-striped singlet from ECW Guilty as Charged 2001 is by far the best of the bunch he has worn over the years.

9 Wouldn't Want - Spike Dudley

Spike Dudley in ECW

It takes a brave person to rock overalls and a tie-dye shirt but somehow, Spike Dudley made it his signature look for ECW, and fans to this day know him for it. All positives aside, this outfit would be absolutely roasted by most people.

Give credit where credit is due, however, as this look for Spike (and the rest of the Dudley Boyz) was integral to completing the look that calls back to the Hanson Brothers from the 1977 film Slapshot.

8 Best - Rick Rude

In his EXTREMELY brief time with the company, Rick Rude took the opportunity to flaunt a quintessential 90s outfit. Upon a search, there are about two outfits he wore, and both are absolutely fabulous. One was a polo and dark pants, the other pictured here was a clean white crew neck sweater with blue jeans and stands as a timeless outfit for the Ravishing One.

Additionally, he would also go on to appear in both WCW and WWF with a classic boxy 90s suit that remains a part of iconography associated with the Attitude Era,

7 Wouldn't Want - New Jack

New Jack coming to the ring

Given any occasion, the controversial New Jack was known for his iconic bandanna on his head when it comes to fashion. Outside that accessory, however, it was this hodgepodge of ill-fitting shirts and shorts that were as baggy as the times needed.

New Jack was a undoubtedly one of the most influential stars of ECW, and his attire helped distinguish him as one of the most unique acts on the wrestling scene, but only he could rock that kind of outfit and get away with it.

6 Best - Bill Alfonso

Bill Alfonso with RVD and Sabu

This might seem like a pick out of left field, but Bill Alfonso always had a custom polo and hat to go with his entrances as part of Team Taz and as the valet for the team of Sabu and RVD. Whether he was accompanying just the Human Suplex Machine or his partner Sabu, he always remained fresh.

Even now, it would be very cool to cop one of these retro polos as a piece to add to an ensemble with black jeans and retro sneakers like the Jordan IV Breds. Truly an underrated ECW outfit.

5 Wouldn't Want - The Sandman

Sandman in ECW

Similar to Bill Alfonso, this is an outfit that can be easily copped by any fashion-forward fan, however, for different reasons. Sandman always wore these bizarre patterned sweats and ill-fitting t-shirts that admittedly always had an iconic band or logo on them like his rival Raven.

However, this is not an outfit to wear on the town, but rather one to wear when eating ice cream in bed. Props for having a comfortable, but albeit messy outfit with this ensemble.

4 Best - Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman and Joey Styles in ECW

Paul E. Dangerously started out in Eastern Championship Wrestling and quickly turned it around into the legendary indie promotion it is seen as today. And he did it with style.

Paul Heyman’s usage of his cell phone in combination with his pinstripe suits and ECW-branded caps is a staple of the programming. On top of that, it set him apart from the other on-screen figures.

3 Wouldn't Want - Mikey Whipwreck

Mikey Whipwreck with ECW Championship

When it comes to the underdog stature of ECW, almost no other wrestler embodies the feel of the company than Mikey Whipwreck. His unlikely win for the ECW Championship was one that became a footnote of the history of the belt, but he did it in an admittedly embarrassing fashion.

The tye-dye shirt he would wear would almost always be three sizes too big, and while it might be comfortable it is not an outfit to be coveted.

2 Best - Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera in ECW

What else can be said about the most prolific luchador of all time that has not been said? Rey Mysterio Jr. stood as one of the most unique looks in the company, even with the brief era of luchadors that came and went in the company because of the design and colors of his attire, including the mask.

To this day, just about anyone can recognize the mask that he is known for, and it was not any different in ECW. It does not hurt that he has some of the most notable fashion choices when it comes to his attire with the "Greatest Mask of All-Time."

1 Wouldn't Want - Blue Meanie

The Blue Meanie of bWo

It is bold to wear short, cut-off jean shorts that are only flattering to the slimmest of figures. But to wear them with a little bit more curves takes courage and no one is taking away from the distinctive look of the ECW legend Blue Meanie as it helped bolster himself into the zeitgeist of wrestling.

With all that in mind, it is still an absolutely horrendous outfit, and even if it helped him become iconic it is an outfit that should be avoided by most.
