Today, the WWE Tag Team Championships are in a better place than they arguably ever have been. For the first time, a Tag Team Championship match has a realistic shot at main eventing WrestleMania. That hasn't always been the case though. In years past, WWE's tag team division wasn't always a huge priority.

While a majority of WrestleManias over the years have featured at least one Tag Team Championship match, only a select few have been unforgettable. Conversely, wrestling's grandest stage has often featured Tag Team Championship matches that weren't that great. This has led to a few of those matches mostly being forgotten by fans.

10 BEST: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson Vs. Enzo & Big Cass Vs. The Bar Vs. The Hardy Boyz - WrestleMania 33

In 2000 and 2001, the bar for Ladder Matches was raised to unimaginable heights by a trio of tag teams. After that, Ladder Matches at WrestleMania became a lot more common. Despite the uptick in Ladder Matches at WrestleMania though, it would take until 2017 to see another Tag Team Ladder Match at 'Mania.

At WrestleMania 33, fans would get a treat when The Hardy Boyz made a surprise return to WWE to compete in a Ladder Match for the Raw Tag Team Championships. The Hardys would defeat Enzo & Big Cass, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, and The Bar to walk away with the gold. The match wouldn't be Attitude Era quality, but it came pretty darn close.

9 Forgotten: Demolition Vs. The Powers Of Pain & Mr. Fuji - WrestleMania 5

Demolition is one of the greatest and most honored WWE tag teams ever. Their WrestleMania legacy is pretty impressive too. Demolition took part in three straight WrestleMania matches for the WWE Tag Team Championships. They'd sweep all three, walking away with the gold every time.

Their second WrestleMania championship bout was perhaps their most forgettable though. Demolition's Handicap Match against The Powers Of Pain and Mr. Fuji wasn't bad by any means. However, it lacks the star power of their first WrestleMania match against Strike Force, or their third one against The Colossal Connection.

8 BEST: The New Age Outlaws Vs. Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie - WrestleMania 14

There's no exact date on the start of The Attitude Era. However, there's almost no denying that WrestleMania 14 was the first official 'Mania of the era. Aside from "Stone Cold" Steve Austin taking the torch from Shawn Michaels, the show also featured a great WWE Tag Team Championship match.

That night, Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie would win a brutal Dumpster Match against The New Age Outlaws. It was a perfect mesh of violence and wrestling psychology. Cactus and Chainsaw would walk away with the gold that night but they wouldn't hold on to it for very long. Still, this match is a must-watch.

7 Forgotten: ShoMiz Vs. R-Truth and John Morrison - WrestleMania 26

Heading into the 2010s, it seemed pretty clear that WWE had big plans for The Miz. Heading into WrestleMania 26, Miz and The Big Show were positioned as a super team called "ShoMiz." The duo dominated WWE's Tag Team division for a bit. Unfortunately, their dominance limited the number of serious contenders they had.

This was on full display at WrestleMania 26. That night ShoMiz took on the rag-tag team of R-Truth and John Morrison. At the time, any smart fan knew Truth and Morrison had no chance. Hindsight makes their chances seem even worse and explains why this match isn't remembered much.

6 BEST: The British Bulldogs Vs. The Dream Team - WrestleMania 2

The 80s are affectionately referred to as "The Golden Era" of WWE. While that may or may not be true, there's one thing that can't be denied. The 80s were the golden era of tag team wrestling in WWE. The WrestleMania 2 Tag Team Championship match between The British Bulldogs and The Dream Team is proof of that.

The match itself was great but what made it special was the slow build that got us there. The Bulldogs chased Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake for nearly a year before finally taking their gold. That kind of slow burn is what makes the final payoff so good.

5 Forgotten: Men On A Mission Vs. The Quebecers - WrestleMania 10

Vince McMahon is a sucker for size. He always has been. This explains why McMahon was so high on Mabel for a bit. Before giving Mabel an ill-advised singles push though, the big man was part of the popular Men On A Mission team, alongside Mo. At WrestleMania 10, Mabel and Mo would challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

To say their match against The Quebecers was forgettable would be a nice way to put it. The match would end in a count out in favor of Men On A Mission but The Quebecers would keep their titles. WrestleMania 10 featured a lot of memorable moments. This match just wasn't one of them.

4 BEST: Edge & Christian Vs. The Hardy Boyz Vs. The Dudley Boyz - WrestleMania 2000

In 1994, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon had the first-ever Ladder Match at WrestleMania. The match was an absolute classic that many thought would never be topped. In 2000, Edge & Christian, The Dudley Boyz, and The Hardy Boyz said "Hold my beer." At WrestleMania 2000, the trio surpassed Michaels and Ramon at the biggest show of the year.

The Triangle Ladder Match those six men put on that night ushered in a new era of Ladder Matches. Some detractors might say they raised the bar too high that night. Whether that's true, or not, it doesn't change the fact that on that fateful night, fans saw something they'd truly never seen before.

3 Forgotten: Too Cool Vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team Vs. The Bashams Vs. The APA - WrestleMania 20

When WWE bought WCW and put an end to The Monday Night War in 2001, it also meant they had no competition left. While that can be nice at first, a lack of competition can create complacency. In an attempt to avoid that, WWE implemented a brand split in 2002. By 2004, there were two sets of Tag Team Championships in the promotion.

At WrestleMania 20, both sets of Tag Team Championships were defended in forgettable matches. While the World Tag Team Championship match was an overbooked cluster, it featured a smidge more star power than the WWE Tag Team Championship match. That match saw Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty defeat The Basham Brothers, The World's Greatest Tag Team, and The APA to retain their gold.

2 BEST: Edge & Christian Vs. The Hardy Boyz Vs. The Dudley Boyz - WrestleMania 17

At WrestleMania 2000, Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Boyz changed the Ladder Match game forever. After a once in a lifetime match like that, WWE decided the best thing to do was go back to the well not once, but twice. Under normal circumstances, that would be a big mistake. These six competitors were far from normal though.

Instead of folding under the pressure, the young up-and-comers rose to the occasion every time. At WrestleMania 17, these six did the unthinkable and topped the Triangle Ladder Match they had just a year prior. This would be the second-ever TLC Match in WWE history but many still consider it the best. Anyone who hasn't seen it needs to immediately. It's worth every second.

1 Forgotten: Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett Vs. D-Lo Brown & Test - WrestleMania 15

While WWE has dominated sports entertainment for the better part of 40 years, they've made plenty of mistakes along the way. Perhaps one of their biggest missteps ever was not capitalizing on Owen Hart's momentum coming out of The Montreal Screwjob. Making Owen a perennial main event star after Montreal should've been simple.

Instead, WWE seemingly did everything in its power to cool Owen down. By 1999, Owen was in a dead-end tag team with Jeff Jarrett. While the duo would eventually win the WWE Tag Team Championships and defend them at WrestleMania 15, their match against D-Lo Brown and Test was as forgettable as it gets. Owen could've and should've contributed a lot more.
