For many years in the WWE, there were just three major titles for the superstars to fight for. During The Attitude Era, the European, Hardcore, and Light Heavyweight championships were introduced, not to mention the Women’s title as well. The WWE had seven different titles to vie for.

More championships came in with the WCW purchase. Then the brand split happened, each show has their own distinctive titles. Some pay per views and Networks specials have had a massive amount of title changes. But considering that there are 20 titles spread across the various WWE brands, let alone the ten across the major two, it’s amazing to think that no more than five titles have switched hands at any event.

11 Night Of Champions 2010 - 4

At the 2010 Night Of Champions event, plenty of title changes happened during the evening. The Divas and Women’s titles were unified when Michelle McCool defeated Melina in a Lumberjill match. Before they were the respective faces of their companies, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre captured tag team gold in a tag team turmoil match. Randy Orton outlasted the six pack challenge to win the WWE title. But the big change here was one of the opening salvos of the never ending battle between The Miz and Daniel Bryan when Bryan defeated Miz for the US championship.

10 SummerSlam 2018 - 4

Ronda Rousey WWE Women's Champion

After failing to slay the Beast at WrestleMania 34, Roman Reigns was finally able to topple Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2018. His fellow Shield brethren, Seth Rollins was able to reclaim the IC title from Dolph Ziggler.

Charlotte Flair won the Smackdown Women’s title, but it was Becky Lynch who walked out of SummerSlam with her head held high. The other third of a future Mania event, Ronda Rousey was able to defeat Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s title.

9 WrestleMania 36 - 4

The world's biggest wrestling event was forced to have zero fans in attendance thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic. But WrestleMania 36 was still able to have massive waves on the high seas. Charlotte Flair answered the challenge and defeated Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s title. Alexa and Nikki defeated the Kabuki Warriors for the Women’s tag team titles. Both the Universal and WWE titles changed hands when Goldberg and Brock Lesnar were defeated by Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre respectively.

8 SummerSlam 2001 - 5

The Rock vs Booker T SummerSlam

In the first PPV after the Invasion show, seismic shifts were flowing. The event started out strong for Team WWE as Edge defeated Lance Storm to win the IC title. Cruiserweight champion X-Pac was able to topple the Light Heavyweight champion Tajiri to unify the two titles. RVD defeated Jeff Hardy for the Hardcore title and once again stole the show. As if there was ever any doubt, The Brothers Of Destruction destroyed DDP and Kanyon to unify the tag titles. In the evening’s main event, The Rock trounced Booker T to capture the WCW world title.

7 WrestleMania 34 - 5

When the Showcase Of The Immortals returned to NOLA, four title changes happened at the 34th annual event. The show opened with Seth Rollins swinging the Intercontinental title high after defeating both Miz and Finn Balor. The other secondary title changed hands at the shows of shows as well when Jinder Mahal won the US title in a Fatal 4 Way. The Bludgeon Brothers eviscerated both The New Day and The Usos to become SmackDown tag champions.

After being bullied and tricked for several months by her supposed bestie, Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss to win the Raw Women’s title. We can also of course never forget the night where Braun Strowman and an 11-year-old kid would win the Raw tag team titles from the The Bar.

6 WrestleMania 37 - 5

WrestleMania 37 new champions

After a year of being shuttered indoors and away from crowds thanks to Covid-19, WrestleMania 37 instantly became possibly the most emotional show in the history of the industry. Combined, both nights had a grand total of five big title changes. The debuting giant Omos practically single-handedly defeated The New Day for the Raw tag titles. Both secondary singles titles changed hands in brutal matches when Apollo and Sheamus defeated Big E and Riddle respectively. The Nightmare was indeed ready for The Empress Of Tomorrow and in the main event of night one, The EST defeated The Boss to become the SmackDown Women’s title.

5 WrestleMania X7 - 5

WrestleMania X-Seven Stone Cold Vince McMahon

Twenty years prior to the return of crowds, WrestleMania X-Seven became the official end to the Monday Night War and The Attitude Era. The WWE had purchased WCW and WrestleMania X-Seven had big title changes to celebrate the moment, starting with Kane defeating Raven and Big Show for The Hardcore title.

Eddie Guerrero came to the Show Of Shows to defeat Test for the European title. Edge and Christian once again defeated The Hardys and The Dudleys for the tag titles. Chyna soundly squashed Ivory to win her first ever Women’s title. The evening’s main event was an epic showdown featuring Stone Cold turning heel to defeat The Rock for the WWE title.

4 Survivor Series 2002 - 5

Ordinarily, the Survivor Series wouldn’t be a night filled with title matches, let alone title switches. But the 2002 event was the exception to the rule. The 16th event saw Billy Kidman defeat Jamie Noble for the Cruiserweight title, and Los Guerreros win the WWE tag team titles. Paul Heyman shocked everyone by turning on Brock Lesnar to help The Big Show win the WWE title. Victoria defeated Trish in a hardcore match for the Women’s title. In the first ever Elimination Chamber, Shawn Michaels returned to make sure Triple H from retaining the World title and ending up winning it himself.

3 Extreme Rules 2009 - 5

A quick cash in from CM Punk helped push the inaugural Extreme Rules to five title switches in total. Prior to Punk defeating Jeff Hardy, the Charismatic Enigma was able to defeat Edge in a Ladder match for the world title. Batista was able to defeat his former Evolution teammate, Randy Orton for the WWE title. Tommy Dreamer was able to claim his first ever WWECW title defeating Jack Swagger and Christian. Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio helped to get the show started with Y2J defeating the legendary Luchador for the Intercontinental title.

2 WrestleMania 33 - 5

The ultimate thrill ride came to Orlando and so did the Hardy Boys, who returned to the WWE to win the Raw tag titles in a Four Way Ladder match. The evenings first title change came when Kevin Owens defeated former bestie Chris Jericho for the US title.

Both WWE and Universal titles changed hands when Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar defeated Bray Wyatt and Goldberg respectively. Lastly, the hometown girl made good when Naomi returned to win the Smackdown women’s title.

1 WrestleMania 35 - 5

Becky Lynch and Kofi Kingston

Three different huge movements culminated for three big title matches at WrestleMania 35. Fans were growing tiresome of Brock Lesnar’s stranglehold on the Universal title and erupted when Seth Rollins became the Beastslayer. The IIconics made history as the first ever Women’s tag team to win gold at WrestleMania. The Demon Finn Balor devastated Bobby Lashley to reclaim the IC title. KofiMania had reached its apex when Kofi Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan to claim the WWE title and The Man came around when Becky Lynch defeated both Charlotte and Ronda Rousey to become Becky 2 Belts.
