Batista was an influential figure of WWE in the Ruthless Aggression Era when he became a big star for the company. He was part of the famous stable, Evolution, and then he started climbing the ladder with a singles push.

Even though he was a gigantic star in the 2000s, he also wrestled in the PG Era. The Animal won six World Championships in his career as well as four Tag Team titles. Being at the top for the majority of his wrestling career, Batista did many extraordinary things. However, just like everyone else in the wild world of professional wrestling, he also did things that hardly made any sense.

10 2014 Return As A Babyface

ROMAN AND BATISTA

Batista returned to the squared circle back in 2014, and he was put in the main event scene right away. He made his long-awaited comeback as a babyface, which wasn't a great idea in terms of the timing.

Daniel Bryan was over as the biggest babyface of the company in 2014, so when WWE tried to push Batista as the main good guy, it didn't go the way they had planned. His whole run as a face was disastrous.

9 Attacking Ric Flair In The Lead-Up To WrestleMania 35

Batista's final brief run in WWE was back in 2019 when he had a feud with Triple H before hanging up his boots as a professional wrestler. But he embarked on the last feud of his career by ambushing Ric Flair, not Triple H.

On the 70th birthday of The Nature Boy, Batista made a surprising return and attacked Flair backstage. After decimating Ric Flair, he called out Triple H. It eventually led to a match at WrestleMania 35, where Batista lost.

8 Deacon Batista

While Batista's name was Leviathan in OVW, the previous developmental brand of WWE, he adopted the name, Deacon Batista, in the early main roster days. Under this name, Batista made his debut with D-Von.

Two gimmick changes in the initial years of his career hardly made any sense. Nevertheless, it wasn't a very long association with D-Von, and his name was changed to Batista after he was drafted to RAW.

7 Faced Alberto Del Rio At 2014 Elimination Chamber

BATSTA VS DEL RIO ON RAW

Batista won the Royal Rumble match in 2014, making him an automatic challenger for then WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton. However, instead of further building his feud with Orton, he had a brief rivalry with Alberto Del Rio.

Batista faced Alberto Del Rio in a singles match at Elimination Chamber, which made no sense. Given Elimination Chamber was the last stop before heading to WrestleMania XXX, he shouldn't have been involved in a random feud with Alberto Del Rio.

6 Give Batista What He Wants

Batista was adamant about facing Triple H one last time to finish his career at WrestleMania 35. The Game wanted nothing to do with it, even after Batista attacked Ric Flair.

The Animal refused to be denied, continuously demanding that Triple H give him what he wants - "continuously" being the keyword. Whether that was the plan or Batista forgot his lines and kept repeating the same words, it created an infamous moment that obviously became a meme.

5 Won The World Heavyweight Title Despite Being Told That He Wouldn't Get A Title Shot

BATISTA AS THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP

After Edge cashed in the Money in the Bank Title and won the World Heavyweight Championship, he was immediately challenged by Batista. The two men crossed paths in three pay-per-views - Judgement Day, One Night Stand, and Vengeance.

Meanwhile, Batista failed to recapture the gold on all three occasions. The loss at Vengeance meant that he wouldn't be able to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title again due to the stipulation. However, he entered the title picture against The Great Khali and won the big gold within a few months, making the previous Vengeance stipulation void.

4 Won The World Tag Team Titles With John Cena

Batista and John Cena, two big faces of WWE in the Ruthless Aggression Era, faced each other for the first time at 2008 SummerSlam in a singles match. However, two weeks before this match, the two men formed a tag team and won the World Tag Team Championship - a booking decision that hardly made any sense.

The very next week on RAW, they dropped the titles, thus remaining champions for just one week. When the tag team partners faced each other at SummerSlam, Batista prevailed.

3 Winning The 2014 Royal Rumble Match

BATISTA AFTER WINNING ROYAL RUMBLE 2014

Batista won the Royal Rumble match twice in his career, first in 2005 and the second one in 2014. It made sense when he won his first Royal Rumble match, which opened up his big push as a main event Superstar.

However, he was in his mid-40s when he won it for the second time in 2014, which made little sense. Instead of allowing the opportunity to a new star, WWE made an ageing part-timer the Royal Rumble winner. Moreover, Daniel Bryan's popularity was another roadblock. Consequently, he was jeered heavily after the Royal Rumble win.

2 Teamed Up With The Undertaker Before WrestleMania 23

UNDERTAKER BVS BATISTA

Batista was the World Heavyweight Champion at the beginning of 2007. The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble match in the same year, and he decided to go for the World Heavyweight Title, which was wrapped around Batista's waist.

But before the big match at the Grandest Stage of Them All, the two rivals had a brief alliance at No Way Out, and the strange booking certainly made no sense.

1 Never Faced Brock Lesnar On The Main Roster

BATISTA AND LESNAR FACE OFF

Four prominent names of professional wrestling graduated at the same time from OVW in 2002, who eventually became huge stars and dominated professional wrestling for years. Besides Batista, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Randy Orton were the three other noteworthy names.

While Batista faced Orton and Cena numerous times, he never faced Brock Lesnar on the main roster. WWE never booked them against each other during Lesnar's first stint, nor in the second stint when Batista returned in 2014.
