Despite COVID-19 still a thorn in the side of life in general, the WWE will soldier on as it has always done. That means that right now, we are all in the midst of WrestleMania season. Matches and storylines have begun to form for the two-night spectacular emanating from Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium.

It also means plenty of facts and statistics will be given by the cadre of announcers commentating on the matches. But not every WrestleMania fact is as well known as a certain Phenom’s Streak.

10 Bayley Has Only Defended Her Titles In Multi-Person Matches

Bayley

Since making her debut on the main roster in late 2016, the Huggable Role Model Bayley has accomplished a unique feat - for three out of the four Manias she has taken part in, Bayley has walked into the Showcase Of Immortals as a champion.

She actually to date is the only female to defend all three main roster titles - at 33, she successfully defended the Raw Women’s title. At WrestleMania 35, she and Sasha walked into battle wearing the tag titles but were not so fortunate walking out. At last year’s event, she would successfully defend the Blue Brand’s women’s title. Each and every championship match Bayley has been in at Mania has also been a multi-women match.

9 Sid Has Wrestled In Only Two ‘Manias (& Main Evented Both)

Sid

With the look and the demeanor, had it not been for his love of softball, Sid might have actually become the man who rules the world. After all, he had the physique that Vince covets and just look at some of the crowd reactions for the monster - the WWE Universe loved him.

The big man was so over that he actually got to headline two WrestleManias - VIII and 13. Coincidentally, these were all also the only two Manias Sid ever took part in.

8 Stone Cold Never Defended The World Title At WrestleMania

Austin WM 14

Throughout his career in WWE history, Stone Cold Steve Austin had won the WWE Triple Crown. However, every single time the glass shattered and The Texas Rattlesnake stomped to the ring at the Show Of Shows, he never had a title slung over his shoulder.

During Austin’s championship title bout against Shawn Michaels and two against The Rock, the Bionic Redneck headed to battle looking to win the gold instead of defending it.

7 Bret Hart Vs. Yokozuna Is The First Main Event To Close Back-To-Back Shows

Bret Yoko

WrestleMania IX might not have been the best WrestleMania, but it also marked the second time ever that someone other than Hulk Hogan wasn’t in the main event (barring his quick win aside).

But it was also the first time Bret Hart and Yokozuna clashed over the WWE title. One year later at WrestleMania X, The Hitman and The Mighty Sumo again clashed for the title. It marked the first time ever that the same main event headlined WrestleMania back-to-back years; something that didn’t happen again until Rock-Cena.

6 There Has Only Been One Steel Cage Match In WrestleMania History

Steel Cage

After the success of WrestleMania, the WWE sought to do it all again one year later with WrestleMania 2 - What The World Has Come To. In some ways, the three location WrestleMania was far too ambitious for its time and the concept was never used again.

Strangely enough, the main event for the evening was never used again either at WrestleMania. Hulk Hogan successfully defended the WWE title against King Kong Bundy inside the confines of a Steel Cage. The Steel Cage match has never again made an appearance at The Showcase Of The Immortals.

5 7 Non-Title Matches Have Main Evented The Show

Non Title Main Events

While most wrestling cards will always close the show out with the WWE title being defended, several times over, the WWE Title was actually not defended in the main event. The very first Mania featured Hogan and Mr. T in a tag team match against Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.

On five more occasions, non-title matches have closed the show - VIII (Hogan / Sid), XI (LT / Bam Bam), XXVI (HBK / Taker), XXVIII (Rock/Cena) 33 (Reigns / Taker), and 36 Night One (Styles / Taker) - three of the six main events have involved The Undertaker.

4 Hulk Hogan (Sort Of) Holds Record For WrestleMania Main Events

Hogan Main Events

Despite names like Rock, Austin, and Cena becoming much bigger stars in some ways, especially Cena who was the top guy for almost 15 years, no one has main evented more WrestleManias than the Immortal Hulk Hogan.

The Hulkster’s legacy includes a main event in 7 of the first 8 WrestleManias (eight if you count him absconding away with the WWE title at IX). Triple H is the only Superstar who comes close with seven main events.

3 Rock/Austin & HHH/Taker Are The Only Mania Trilogies

Trilogy

The Attitude Era could’ve been defined by four men - The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, and The Undertaker. Sure there were several others but no one was as consistent and revolutionary as this quartet. The Rattlesnake and The Great One would lock up to close out WrestleManias XV and X7 and Austin’s last match at XIX.

Meanwhile Triple H and The Deadman wouldn’t wrestle against each other until X7 and then ten years later at XXVII and the epic End Of An Era match at XXVIII. Both trios of matches are the only times in Mania history where the same match happened three times.

2 Ricky Steamboat Has Longest Gap Between Mania Matches

Ricky Steamboat

Over the years, wrestlers come and go through promotions all over the world. That unfortunately means they miss out on performing at WrestleMania. Some gaps are pretty long. Mike Rotunda went eight years. Edge and Flair had ten years and Hogan had nine under his belt.

The Hitman had a whopping 13 between Mania matches. But all of these Superstars and more pale in comparison to Ricky The Dragon Steamboat- his final Mania while an active performer was WrestleMania IV during the tournament. But The Dragon would return to the ring as one of the legends taking on Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XXV, a whopping 21 year gap between Mania matches.

1 The Deadman Defeated All Of Evolution At WrestleMania

Taker Vs Evolution

At WrestleMania XXX, a lot of fans think Daniel Bryan pulled off a miracle, defeating every active member of Evolution in one night. It’s also a feat The Deadman pulled off, except across four different Manias (and HHH was good for two more).

When Flair was still active The American Badass surged to 10-0 by defeating Naitch at X8, one year prior, he began his trilogy with HHH. At WrestleMania 21, he defeated The Legend Killer and two years later at 23, he would defeat The Animal to become World Champion.
