When it comes to writing a pro-wrestling storyline, a writer has to take into consideration the portrayal of human emotions like love, anger, and sadness. Love has always been an important aspect of the industry, as promotions have tugged at the heartstrings of fans with several relationships.

WWE fans have witnessed numerous romantic storylines, each one as unique as the other. While some memorable storylines made an everlasting impact on the WWE Universe, some turned out to be totally confusing. With that said, let's take a look into ten forgotten WWE relationships that made no sense at all.
10 Balls Mahoney and Kelly Kelly
In one of their many versions of Beauty & The Beast, WWE decided it was a good idea to book a romantic angle between Balls Mahoney and Kelly Kelly. But the good thing that happened in this storyline was that it took place in WWE's version of ECW and missed the eyes of the majority of the WWE Universe.
The WWE writers thought the storyline could be a good opportunity to get both wrestlers over, but it turned out disastrous, and it ended right in time before Mahoney got released in April 2008.
9 Teddy Long and Kristal
Teddy Long became one of the most memorable SmackDown General Managers of all time, and instead of building storylines based on his GM duties, WWE chose to spice things up with ol' Teddy and made him fall in love with Kristal Marshall. After weeks of flirting with each other, Long and Marshall expressed their feelings for each other. Long even brought back Vickie Guerrero to be his assistant, so he could spend more time with his new girlfriend.
Teddy Long proposed to Kristal, and the wedding segment took place with various interruptions, including one from The Godfather and his Ho-Train. However, Long suffered a heart attack right before he could say "I Do" and fell into a coma. The storyline never got to finish as Kristal left WWE over creative differences.
8 Kelly Kelly & Mike Knox
The name Kelly Kelly might appear multiple times on this list as she's been part of various romantic angles throughout her WWE career. However, before WWE chose to pair her up with Balls Mahoney, they had her in an on-screen relationship with Mike Knox. WWE could've found tons of other ways to introduce Kelly Kelly, but instead, they paired her up with Mike Knox in a storyline that started with him coming up to stop her Kelly's Exposé segments.

The storyline ended after various twists and turns with Knox attacking Kelly Kelly with his finisher to give her a kayfabe injury and write her off weekly television.
7 Dolph Ziggler & Lana
Following a fallout with Rusev after the latter's "I Quit" match against John Cena at the 2015 Payback PPV, Lana aligned herself with Dolph Ziggler by kissing him on the following night's episode of Raw.
This led to Summer Rae joining forces with Rusev to feud against Ziggler and Lana. The first setback in this storyline came when Ziggler had to take some time off to film a WWE Studios film. The second setback came when TMZ reported Lana's real-life engagement with Rusev, which resulted in WWE quietly ending the storyline.
6 Ted DiBiase Jr. & Maryse
When WWE paired Ted DiBiase Jr. and Maryse as an on-screen couple in 2010, they believed both wrestlers would benefit from the storyline. DiBiase fired his manager Virgil and made Maryse his personal assistant, and had her accompany him to the ring for his matches.
However, the pairing didn't go well with the fans as the two often found it uncomfortable to carry out the segments owing to their real-life relationships. WWE realized they weren't going anywhere with the storyline and moved it to NXT, where it ended with Maryse turning on DiBiase.
5 Drew McIntyre & Kelly Kelly
The downfall of Drew McIntyre's first run with WWE started following the end of his run as Vince McMahon's chosen one. After that, McIntyre slowly slipped down the cards and eventually found himself in pointless storylines.
One of such storylines was a romantic angle with Kelly Kelly, which saw McIntyre try to woo her and ask her out on dates. The fans showed zero interest in the story, and they only felt sorry for how McIntyre's career fell into a downward spiral.
4 Enzo Amore & Nia Jax
When WWE called up Nia Jax to the main roster in the 2016 brand split, the fans expected to see her as a powerhouse wrestler dominating the rest of the women's roster. But WWE had her start a romantic storyline with Enzo Amore later the same year, which saw them flirting with each other on a weekly basis.

The storyline did have the fans show some interest at first, and Amore revealed the original plan was for him to use Jax to win his matches and let the storyline play out, only for Jax to find Amore was cheating on her with Alexa Bliss. But it all went down the dumpster when Enzo Amore got released.
3 Daniel Bryan and Gail Kim
Daniel Bryan entered into a love triangle storyline in late 2010, where The Bella Twins began competing for his attention. The angle led to Nikki and Brie accompanying Bryan to his matches and competing in mixed tag team matches together.
But the storyline took a turn when it was revealed that Daniel Bryan was dating Gail Kim behind their backs. The Bella Twins stopped their attempts to woo Bryan following the segment, and the fans don't even remember what happened next between Bryan and Gail Kim as they didn't show any interest whatsoever in the angle.
2 Liv Morgan and Lana
One has to accept that the WWE creative team tried hard to spice up the romantic triangle storyline between Lana, Bobby Lashley, and Rusev. But no one expected that they would introduce a fourth person into the storyline.
During Lana and Bobby Lashley's wedding segment, Liv Morgan walked out and claimed that she was in a relationship with Lana. The fans thought the storyline would do some good to both women involved, but nothing came out of it and WWE quietly ended the story and acted as if it didn't even happen.
1 The Great Khali & Natalya
In what was one of the oddest pairings in WWE history, WWE started a romantic storyline between Natalya and The Great Khali in 2012. The fans viewed this as an absolute demotion for Natalya as the talented wrestler did not deserve to be put in such a lackluster storyline.
Khali also didn't find any benefits out of this angle as he just simply danced around with Natalya, contrary to how WWE booked him in his initial days with the promotion.
