Getting into the wrestling business is not for the faint-hearted. Especially for a son, trying to follow in their fathers' footsteps who paved the way for them. The spotlight is on the son to perform extremely well with some managing to handle the pressure, and others failing to match the success that their fathers' had.

Nevertheless, in some instances, the sons became bigger stars than their fathers. The likes of Randy Orton is a prime example as he carved out a better WWE career than this father, Cowboy Bob Orton. Ultimately, throughout different promotions, these wrestlers captured a championship that their father already won, decades later.
10 Chavo Classic & Chavo Guerrero Jr. - Cruiserweight Championship
This is a rare instance, where a father won a championship after their son. In 2004, Chavo Guerrero Sr. became involved in his son Chavo Guerrero Jr's feud with his youngest brother Eddie. After that feuded ended, Chavo used the name Chavo Classic to distinguish himself from his son.
Nevertheless, in a surprising turn of events, Chavo Classic defeated his son Chavo and Spike Dudley in a triple threat match to become the oldest Cruiserweight Champion at the age of 55. He held the title for a month before he dropped it to Rey Mysterio. Chavo Jr. had already captured the Cruiserweight Championship four times in WCW and WWE. Chavo would end up winning the title two more times before the belt retired in 2007.
9 Sika & Rosey - World Tag Team Championship
The Anoa'i family has a rich history in WWE when it comes down to winning Tag Team titles. The Wild Samoans' Afa and Sika became three-time World Tag Team Champions in the '80s, and they held the titles for a combined 431 days which is the fifth-longest with that variation of the tag team championship.
22 years after the Wild Samoans held the tag team championship, Sika's son Rosey won the World Tag Team Championship alongside The Hurricane. Rosey and The Hurricane were an entertaining team that held the gold for four months. Moreover, Sika has another son called Roman Reigns, who is doing very well for himself, he also won tag team gold but a different version to the one his father and brother held.
8 Ric Flair & David Flair - United States Championship
Ric Flair is one of the very best to lace up a pair of boots, and the Nature Boy held countless titles throughout his illustrious career. Naitch may be a 16-time world champion but his exploits with the United States Championship can't be forgotten either. Flair is technically a six-time United States Champion, although WWE doesn't recognize his fifth reign in November 1980-January 1981 as champion.
It was always going to be hard for David to follow in his father's footsteps. However, he did manage to hold the United States Championship once in WCW, and doing so at the age of 20, he still holds the record as the youngest person to win the US Title. David wasn't even born when Ric captured the gold for the first time in 1977.
7 Rikishi & The Usos - WWE Tag Team Championship
The Anoa'i family continued their love affair with tag team titles after Rikishi and his sons The Usos both captured the WWE Tag Team Championship. Rikishi's WWE career was winding down by the time 2004 rolled around, but he won the WWE Tag Team Championship with his good friend Scotty 2 Hotty.

One of the highlights of Rikishi's career was retaining the gold with Scotty at WrestleMania XX. A decade later, The Usos beat the New Age Outlaws for their first WWE Tag Team Championship. They won the belts a second time, and the championship is now called the Raw Tag Team Championship which they haven't won in its current form, considering they are five-time and reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
6 Blackjack Mulligan & Barry Windham - United States Championship/World Tag Team Championship
The Windham-Rotunda family is another underrated wrestling dynasty in WWE. Blackjack Mulligan is the father-in-law to Mike Rotunda a.k.a. IRS, and of course, the father of Barry Windham. Mulligan won the United States Championship four times, although one of his reigns is not recognized by WWE.
Windham only won the United States Championship once but he held the championship for a respectable 283 days. The United States Championship wasn't the only title that both men won. Mulligan and Blackjack Lanza as the Blackjacks won the World Tag Team Championship once. Windham and Rotunda were two-time World Tag Team Champions as the U.S. Express.
5 The British Bulldog & David Hart Smith - World Tag Team Championship
The Hart Family was filled with tons of outstanding wrestlers. The British Bulldog was married into the family as he married the patriarch Stu Hart's daughter. Bulldog is arguably the greatest British wrestler to grace a WWE ring, and he is a two-time World Tag Team Champion. He first won the titles with his cousin the Dynamite Kid at WrestleMania 2, and a decade later with his brother-in-law Owen Hart.
14 years later, Bulldog's son David Hart Smith became one-half of the final World Tag Team Champions with Tyson Kidd as the Hart Dynasty. They were Unified WWE Tag Team Champions, and they beat The Miz and Big Show for the titles.
4 Ted DiBiase & Ted DiBiase Jr. - Million Dollar Championship/World Tag Team Championship
The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase was one of the biggest heels in WWE in the '80s, and early '90s and he should have won the WWE Championship. Nevertheless, DiBiase created the Million Dollar Championship which he held twice throughout his career. The Million Dollar Man's pedigree in tag team wrestling was superb as he won three World Tag Team Championships with IRS as Money Inc.

DiBiase's son Ted Jr. had the credentials to be a major player but his heart was not with professional wrestling. He did win the World Tag Team Championship twice with Cody Rhodes, and he also had a stint with the Million Dollar Championship in 2010.
3 Rocky Johnson & The Rock - World Tag Team Championship
Rocky Johnson is a trailblazer for black athletes in WWE. In November 1983, Johnson and Tony Atlas as Soul Patrol became the first black tag team champions in WWE history. They only held the championships once but it didn't matter as they created a historical moment that no one can take away from them.
16 years later, Johnson's son Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson joined his father as becoming a World Tag Team Champion. The Rock already had three WWE Championship reigns to his name by the time he won three World Tag Team Championships with his former rival Mankind. Rock would win the gold two more times with The Undertaker and Chris Jericho.
2 Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio - SmackDown Tag Team Championship
At WrestleMania Backlash, Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik made history as the first father-son tandem to win a tag team championship. They dethroned the Dirty Dawgz for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in a moment which is right up there for Rey alongside his world title victories.
The Mysterios were champions for 63 days as they dropped the championships to The Usos on the Money in the Bank 2021 kickoff show. It remains to be seen if the Mysterios will strike gold together again but Dominik could win some singles championships in the future like the WWE, Intercontinental, and US Titles which his dad has won in the past.
1 Mr. Perfect & Curtis Axel - Intercontinental Championship
Mr. Perfect is always in the conversation as one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions to never win the WWE Championship. Perfect is a two-time Intercontinental Champion, and he held the championship for 404 days in total.
22 years after he dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1991, Perfect's son Curtis Axel won the Intercontinental Championship on Father's Day at Payback 2013. Axel looked up to the Heavens after he won the belt, and to date, they are the only father and son duo to win the Intercontinental Championship.
