In the '90s, WCW and WWE were involved in a major war, one that only one company would survive. However, both WCW and WWE put out similar products, and there were wrestling fans who wanted an alternative. That company ended up being ECW, a former NWA territory that broke off and became Extreme.

While ECW had three titles, they didn't hopscotch those titles to wrestlers all the time. When someone won a title, they usually held it a little while before dropping it to whoever came along next. There was also not a lot of repeat champions since ECW stars were always leaving for WWE and WCW. Here is a look at the wrestlers with the most championship wins in ECW history.
10 JOHN KRONUS - 4
For people who didn't follow ECW back in the day, the addition of Kronus to this list seems a little bizarre. He never did much of anything outside of ECW, but he was a mainstay there for years.
He mostly worked as a tag team wrestler, and his tag team with Perry Saturn as The Eliminators was one of ECW's best. They won the tag titles three times. Kronus won a fourth with New Jack as his partner.
9 THE PUBLIC ENEMY - 4
The Public Enemy worked for ECW, WCW, and WWE. While they won the WCW World Tag Team Championship one time, they only held it for eight days and never won a title in WWE.
However, in ECW, Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge were very successful. The team won four tag team titles in ECW, and both men are in the Hardcore Hall of Fame. Rock died in 2002 from a heart attack, and Grunge died in 2006 from sleep apnea complications.
8 2 COLD SCORPIO - 5
The day that Extreme Championship Wrestling was formed, Shane Douglas beat 2 Cold Scorpio in the finals of a tournament for the vacant NWA World Championship. Douglas threw the title in the trash, and ECW broke away from the NWA.
Scorpio followed him and had a nice career, although he never won a world title. He was a four-time TV Champion and won the tag titles on one occasion with The Sandman.
7 MIKEY WHIPWRECK - 6
Out of all the ECW champions on this list, Mikey Whipwreck was the least likely. He was a kid who helped set up and tear down the rings and did anything Paul Heyman asked of him. As a result, he was able to fulfill his dream of being a wrestler.

Cactus Jack took an interest, and he led Mikey to his first title win, winning the TV title from The Pitbull. He held that title twice, won the tag titles three times, and shocked the world with an ECW World Championship win as well.
6 THE SANDMAN - 6
The Sandman has a poor reputation in the wrestling industry today, but at one time, there was no one more popular than the cigarette-smoking, beer-drinking, brawler from Sandy, Utah.
He held the ECW World Championship more times than anyone in history, with five title reigns, one more than ECW mainstay and the leader of the famed Triple Threat, Shane Douglas. He was also a one-time tag champion with 2 Cold Scorpio.
5 RAVEN - 6
If there is one person that ECW was tailored to, it was Raven. He had worked in various gimmicks for WWE and WCW in the past, but none of them fit who he was.
When he took on the identity of Raven in ECW, he became a legend, and his feud with Tommy Dreamer is one of wrestling's greatest. In ECW, he was a two-time world champion and held the tag team titles four times with three different wrestlers.
4 SABU - 7
Sabu is one of the wrestlers who was with ECW when it was still Eastern Championship Wrestling before it turned Extreme. He worked as a tag team wrestler for much of his career there. This is always interesting since he never seemed to get along with anyone.
Sabu was a three-time ECW tag champ, twice with RVD and once with Taz. He was also a two-time world champion, a former TV champion, and he also held the FTW title.
3 SHANE DOUGLAS - 7
Shane Douglas was the face of ECW. He was the man who started the entire revolution with his speech after winning the NWA World Championship and trashing it to create the ECW World Championship. While The Sandman won more world titles than Douglas, no one held the world title longer (874 days).

On top of his four world title reigns, he was also a two-time TV Champion. If you add in his one NWA World Championship, which he held only for a matter of minutes, he sits with seven championship wins in ECW history.
2 THE DUDLEY BOYZ - 8
If Shane Douglas was the face of ECW and Raven was the heart of ECW, the Dudley Boyz were what every tag team in the promotion could only strive to live up to.
The Dudley Boyz are one of the most decorated tag teams in wrestling history with 23 major tag team title reigns, eight of those reigns coming in ECW. This was the team of Bubba Ray Dudley and Devon Dudley, as there were also various other members of their family in ECW.
1 TAZ - 9
The man with the most championship wins in ECW history broke the record due to a favor asked of him by Paul Heyman. Taz was already a WWE superstar when ECW called WWE and asked for a favor. World Champion Mike Awesome was leaving ECW for WCW, and they wanted Taz to beat him for the title and then pass it on to someone else.
Taz agreed, beat Mike Awesome for his second world title, and then lost it quickly to Tommy Dreamer to pass the torch. On top of his two world titles, Taz was also a two-time FTW Champion, two-time TV Champion, and three-time tag team champion, twice with Kevin Sullivan and once with Sabu.
